This 1968 western is one I have never seen that received a great review at dvdreview.com. The DVD will be available on 11/18. Comments from anyone who has seen it and whether it would be worth the risk of a blind buy are appreciated.

    Kberg,

This is a classic movie, and IMHO a must have for the library.

    My all time favorite.
Been waiting years for this to come to DVD.
Opening scene is a one of a kind.
    Beautiful, Morricone musical score.
    A must have.

Agreed, classic 'overdone', great, spaghetti western. If I remember correctly what I've read, some audience members had trouble accepting the film because Henry Fonda was a bad guy.. a really bad guy...

I think, if for no other reason than personal nostalgia, I like "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" better, but this is a good flick. Certainly one of the top 4-5 westerns I'd choose to own.

"Did you bring a horse for me?"
    "Looks like we're one shy."
"Looks like you brought 2 too many."

This is the best western ever made and perhaps the only time Henry Fonda plays the bad guy. Go and get the movie, you will love it if you like great films like ones made by Kurosawa. Film is very detailed, well acted and well directed. I almost killed the sales person who told me they were sold out after 2 hours of sales at best buy. Thankfully the manager went to the back and found another case.

Watched this last night, one of the all time Western greats. The acting all around is excellent, so much can be said through expressions with this cast without saying a word.

The transfer is utterally beautiful. The audio is OK, some decent bass but the overall sounds were a bit 'tinny' sounding.

This is one that belongs on every Western fan's DVD shelf.

    Peace Out~:D
