I'll bet you're interested. It's a fantastic price on a fantastic piece. Being offered for LOCAL P/U to fantastic people here at Polk. IF and when I decide to ever ship this thing, it won't be to someone whose only reason for joining was this. And it sure wont be for $150.

AR-28S - $30 (2 way 10" that need surrounds, cabinets living room presentable)

    George,
I haven't heard of this model. Could you have fingers like mine and these are AR-2ax speakers? If so, I'll find a way to get them.

No, I have little, size Chinese Ladies hands.

They are a much later model than the 2ax. These are from the 80's. There was no 10" two-way in the original AR line-up of single digit model #'s. 10" three-ways and 8" two-ways were offered, and of course, the Model 9.

Hey George, I just wanted to let you know the Phillips CDR-880 I bought off you recently makes supurb recordings. I finally found some CD-R's that work with it and tonight I recorded Cannonball Aderley's Something Else off stereo vinyl (I have a pristine condition copy of this on Japanese pressed vinyl). Since it was mainly for Johnny, next is one of his death metal LP's (Slipknot). I may have to bribe him into letting me keep it in my main rig for a while. Even with the rip off shipping cost I am very very pleased with this purchase. Thanks a bunch George.

Scott 340 - Old early SS, not pretty, needs a De-Oxit bad, $20
    QUOTE]

george, i think the scott 340 is a tube unit. the 340a is the old pink/gold scott style with a big dial tuner, and the 340b is a more modern looking silver face unit with a slide ruller type tuner... the 340b looks like the later scott solid state gear and so is easily mistaken as ss. if it is a tube unit and working it is worth way more than your $20 price. have a look and let us know.

Paradigm Titan – Black 6” vented two-way. Not a scratch.

george, could you please tell me your price for the titans and if there is information on the speaker regarding the version (there are several).
    thanks.

Actually joined because I started dating a woman who is way into audiophile stuff and she suggested this site for its forum. Have been lurking on it for weeks and, yes, joined when I saw your post because she had told me the CR-1020 was a good entry level piece for what I am trying to build. But - hey - thanks for making me feel like a total newb. Really welcoming of a veteran poster like you.

And by the way - I wasn't expecting to get it for $150 - assumed there'd be handling fee along with shipping. I did see that your post was "local" but I also saw others asking about shipping so thought I'd ask.

    Good luck with your sale.

Stick around, make some posts, learn some things, share some of what you know. The Flea Market here at Club Polk is something that goes beyond just the moving of merchandise to the long-standing members; prices are often lower than market value in the interest of helping out the extended family here and to keep nice gear 'in the family'. Some of the things that come up for sale have moved through the rigs of several Polkies, and that has a value of its own.

George is damn good people and will go out of his way to help people out--With the amount of gear and LPs he's sold here and elsewhere, he's got a well-defined idea of who he will and won't sell to based on those experiences. Join the family here by posting and being a "Polkie of value" and you'll find the Flea Market easier to maneuver around.

Welcome to Club Polk. This is the best forum on the 'net, as far as I've found.

Thanks Jay. I will be around. I just inherited a big vinyl collection, and am working on building a system around a Dual 1229 turntable. I have to admit, that half my attraction to the CR-1020 was that the wood looked good with the wood on the Dual - I really don't know squat yet about it being compatibility-wise a good choice.

I may be listing some LPs on here once I go through them all and find out what I don't want, and after I learn the protocols around here a bit better.

You ARE a total newb. You're welcome! That approach doesn't generate a lot of sympathy either. At least not on my part. Listed, and guarantee selling by the end of the week.

george, could you please tell me your price for the titans and if there is information on the speaker regarding the version (there are several).
    thanks.

The original versions had a wooden back and the earlier ones had clips for the speaker wires (replaced with binding posts in the last year or so). The version 2 had an all plastic back and the tweeter was upgraded to a metal and ceramic type. The originals have a flat front grill and the version 2 had sort of a concave grill. Neither was removable (so don't try). This was a feature to keep the cost so low. these two versions where known to have a sort of boomy sounding bass but the version 2 had a much quicker/lively high end thanks to the new tweeter. The version 3 was larger and got rid of the boomy bass sound. Don’t know what they did with the version 4 and 5 but these models have always been a well liked speaker and a surprisingly good value given their remarkably low price.

    Todd Walker,

The ad states local pick-up, and that is kind of what the prices are geared towards. At the $10 price point, when you add in the time spent boxing, cost of materials, time and energy to get to the UPS office.... catch my drift?

That piece will cost about $15 to ship UPS ground from Jersey to Maine. I have no pictures but it looks and works just fine. Thanks for your interest and if you have further interest you can PM me.

Sorry, I was mistaken. It was still listed in my log but I couldn't find it around here anywhere. I finally remembered it was sold at Polkfest. I apologize.

This is an incomplete list. Some stuff needs to be added, some removed. Maybe later.
