Congrats on your new SDA's...first thing you need to do is get them outa the corner, and don't toe them.
You can download a user manual here and get the scoop on placement...the SDA's won't shine until they are properly set-up.
N'joy your new speaks -

That is just in the pictures I took at the guys house I bought them from. If you look at the the picture with the RTi 10 at my house does it look toed in. I can read the back of the speaker. I placed them straight forward in a equal distant triangle from my listening position. Yes they do shine. You might want to call Emotiva about their amps being common ground or not...I called them about an RPA-2 and it was not...

Good advice. I don't believe the Emo's are common ground. Don't quote me on that though.

So if it not a common ground amplifier ,I should not run the SDA's with it? I read the post on common ground and it really doesn't answer that. Could someone please explain?Main theater : Pan 54 G10, Onkyo 805, UPA 7, Carver TFM 45, Sony BDP 350, Polk SDA 2 s, Polk CSi A6, Polk RTi4 (X 4 ), Velo CHT 10 (X 2), APC H15.

From looking through more of the postings, I see that I should not. Good thing I haven't hooked up the RPA 2 to them , I just got it.I did however, listen to them through the UPA 7 . Are any of the Emo amps common ground? If not ,any suggestions on one that would be good for these speakers? E-mail Emotiva about the amp. I just got this email from them about another amp I inquired on:
Hello Eric,
Thank you for your interest in Emotiva.
Yes the UPA-2 is a common ground amplifier, sometimes called a single ended design. So it should work very well.
Best regards,

Very nice rig you have. Enjoy! -
I just sent them an E mail . So the UPA 7 should work ok because it is similar to the UPA 2 but they will let me know. They always respond quickly. However, I really like the sound of the RPA 2 with the RTi 10's.Main theater : Pan 54 G10, Onkyo 805, UPA 7, Carver TFM 45, Sony BDP 350, Polk SDA 2 s, Polk CSi A6, Polk RTi4 (X 4 ), Velo CHT 10 (X 2), APC H15.

Good to hear. I've been considering the RPA2 to power the RTi8's I'm getting soon. From everything I've seen/read it looks like a damn fine amp...especially for the price. The nirvana inducer-

Thank you Mike for pointing that out to me. I would not want to hurt either the speakers or the amp. RichMain theater : Pan 54 G10, Onkyo 805, UPA 7, Carver TFM 45, Sony BDP 350, Polk SDA 2 s, Polk CSi A6, Polk RTi4 (X 4 ), Velo CHT 10 (X 2), APC H15.

No worries,I was also interested in the RPA-2,that's why I called them...seems like "some" of their amp. designs are c.g. and "some" are not.
I think maybe the XPA-2 is c.g. but, don"t quote me on that. -
Yep you were right here is what Lonnie wrote me back.
Hello Richard,
All of the XPA and UPA amps are common ground amps with the exception of the XPA-1 which is full differential. The RPA and MPS are not common grounded either.
There is no way to common ground the MPS but it is possible to common ground the RPA by running a wire between the two speaker ground post. Now there are certain ramifications to doing this though. The best case scenario would be that you would get some additional noise in the system, the worst case scenario depending on the configuration of the speakers is the two amps could fight each other (more commonly know in the industry as a tractor pull) until the whole amp goes up in smoke. I really would not recommend trying to force an amp that is not designed to be common grounded to be a common ground. You probably would not like the ultimate outcome.
So I'l have to run them with the UPA 7 or get another of the XPA line which I did not like. Thanks for straightening me out everyone and saving me from ruining my amp or especially my speakers .Main theater : Pan 54 G10, Onkyo 805, UPA 7, Carver TFM 45, Sony BDP 350, Polk SDA 2 s, Polk CSi A6, Polk RTi4 (X 4 ), Velo CHT 10 (X 2), APC H15.

Bummer about the RPA. I had asked that question over a year ago. It's supposed to be the most laid back sounding amp they make and preferred by many for 2 channel. If you like laid back then the Carver recommendation makes sense, but I think the XPA 2 would work very well too.

Greetings all,
I can attest to the XPA-2 being a solid choice.
I received mine one week ago and I have it exclusively powering my SDA-2s.
They have never sounded better.
Phenomenal would be accurate.
The amp is now on special (-10% and free shipping) BTW.
Good luck. -

No, you don't HAVE to run them with "the UPA 7".So I'l have to run them with the UPA 7 or get another of the XPA line which I did not like.
You could always choose to NOT use a Communist-sourced amplifier. -
