SDA-2s

It's time to say good bye to some old friends. These speakers were the reason that I joined the Polk Audio Forum and community of audio enthusiasts. These speakers and the Forum have provided me the opportunity to make many good friends and hear all types of audio equipment.
I am the second owner of these beauties and I have treated them with loving care. These speakers are the original SDA-2s with two tweeters and three woofers. I have replaced the original tweeters with the RDO-194 soft domes, the crossovers have been upgraded with Sonicaps, Mills resistors, and Vampire speaker terminals. These speakers are not as popular as the later generation SDA-2A and SDA-2B. I like these speakers and they have two stereo woofers, one midrange and one mid bass. To my ears these speakers a little more bass, and a tighter bass. As you would expect with the mid bass woofer.
These have received nothing but the finest care. It's hard to put a price on these since I have about $500 in parts just for the upgrades. I am going to ask $400 for these speakers. The SDA-s can be bought for a lower price, but with $500 in upgrade hardware, I think $400 is a fair price. The speakers come with the original blade/blade interconnect. I cannot ship these so these are offered for pick-up only in Monroeville, PA which is 25 miles East of Pittsburgh.
Thanks for looking and here are a few pictures:

In what way is this true? I have 2 sets of 2A's but I guess I am not familiar with the 2's at all. I might be interested. Thanks.

Polk sold many more sets SDA 2A and 2Bs. I think the changes from the SDA-2 to the SDA 2A were possibly two fold. The Dimensional tweeter just didn't add anything to the SDA effect. The same could be said about the mid bass woofer. The SDA 2As and 2Bs were effective in producing the big soundstage. Some of the changes by Polk may have been to reduce the cost of the speaker by eliminating the "extra" woofer and tweeter, without comprimising the SDA effect.
I think the SDA-2s have a little tighter and deeper bass response. The crossover mods enhanced this even a little more. I very much like the sound of the SDA 2A and 2Bs. I just like the SDA-2s a little more IMHO. Of course, I might be hearing my emotional attachment to these speakers:D
I will be sorry to see them go:( I also have these listed on the Pittsburgh Vintage HiFi Forum for the same price. There are a number of Polk Forum members who frequent the Pittsburgh Vintage HiFi Forum. I cannot ship these so I am looking for a pickup, or maybe a meeting within an hour of my residence.
Thanks for looking!Carl -
These deuces are wild!! The price is a give-away!!

Hey scharcw,
Let me know if the sale doesn't happen; I'll be near Pittsburg next weekend for a wedding, and I'll buy'em if you still have'em. PM sent.
