Just acquired these gems and experience the SDA effect: althought I have less than ideal room placement the 3D sound is just pure amazing, never heard anything like that,I guess that what they called the genius of Mr Polk.
Have a question concerning the version of these speakers, they do have the silver coil tweeters, pin and blade IC,are they the original SRS or SRS 1.2?

Thank guys! right now I'm quite happy with the sound, but kind of curious what the TL mod is? how it gonna change the sound of the 1.2? -
Well for one your crossover upgrade will change the sound, but also you will be able to use the RDO-198 tweeters..
But I say enjoy them stick around and learn a few things about them.. -
Nice speakers. Unfortunately your speakers may be wired out of phase (from the factory) Read the following thread for details.

I have the SRS 1.2 and SRS 1.2tl's. I will tell you they are different. Personally I love the 1.2's for rock music. They are more in line with the original SRS speakers but easier to drive being they are 6 ohm speakers. They have a deeper bass sound where the 1.2tl's are more refined. Both are great speakers. The point is to listen to the 1.2's for awhile and see if you are satisfied with them. If you are you may not want to modify them because the sound will be different. I would upgrade the tweets to RDO's even if you don't modify them. It will be worth the upgrade. Just food for thought. Nice speakers. For 1.2s you would need the RD0194s. Yes Polk sells them. Call Customer Service, tell them what you need and also tell them you are a member of this forum and you will get a discount and in most cases free two day shipping.
The 194s are more silky sounding and don't accentuate the highs. I have 1.2TLs and the 198s presented a more stable image, less brassy sounding than the SL3000s and a more true to life tone of the higher pitched instruments. -

Yes polk offers them, if you dont do the TL upgrade on your crossovers you would want the RDO-194's If you do the TL upgrade you would want the RDO-198's
If I was you I would'nt get to worried about an upgrade, I say enjoy them for now and stick around here for a few a learn a few things about them. if you get to worked up on the upgrades you may not enjoy what you have at the moment... but it is all up to you. the upgrades are worth it though..;) -

That's great advice. Larry makes a great point, however, the crossover upgrades, tweeter upgrades, Dynamating of MW baskets, spiking the cabinets, and sealing the drivers & tweets will make you smile from ear to ear. -

Thank so much for your guys advices,I'll go with the 194 upgrade:right now the HF is just a tick too much for me,hopefully the 194's will take care of that. -

They definitely will. -
Good choice. Enjoy them for now. You can always mod them in the future. Let us know what you think of the RDO's. You can sell the SL2000's to help cut down the price of the new tweets. If you decide to TL the speakers the RDO 194's hold there value around here and the cost of RDO 198's should be small if you sold the RDO 194's.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
