    So this is prolly a dumb thought. But what would be the consequences of sending the line level sub-out (LFE) to an amp (with gain control) and then to the bottom posts of the 12's?? Of course the top posts (mids and tweeter) would get fed by the AVR fronts (L & R). This is something that had crossed my mind as I yet to invest in a sub.

    I don't think that would be any different than simply running the speakers full range and connecting them normally. Aside from possibly sounding worse.

    When you're running them full range, they're already producing as much of a full bandwidth signal as they're physically capable of.

    I can see what you're thinking...but connecting them that way won't turn them into "subs".


    You'd do best to just get an amp to power the entire speaker.
