Emotiva UPA-5 is out!

Looks like Emotiva has unleashed another great bang for the buck amp. For $549 you get 125 watts X 5 that is 4ohm rated.
Makes it kind of hard to purchase the used 5 channel Carver and Rotel that I saw on Craigs List with almost identical ratings. If you don't want to chance it on a used amp this seems to fit the deal for the budget conscious that still want some class leading electronics.

Price/Performance. I don't think a $7K 5 channel amp is considered the same class (well not price wise for sure). -

You have to be part owner or have stock in that company.
I will be the first to say no thanks.Emotiva is for girls...;)
J/K don't go getting your panties in a wad.. -
Yeah.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I, for one, all politics aside....think it's groovy that someone is producing separates on the cheap. I think that some of these guys are drinking too much of the Kool-aid...but that said...
Oh, and no, if you like Rotel/Carver/Adcom....no, it's not that hard to pass up the Emotiva. Class-leading? Well, there isn't a lot at that class...no leading it should be pretty much win by default, no?

Many of their owners lack class in the first place. I wonder how they define class when they lack it themselves.

Do you pollute every Emotiva thread?? -
-
I just sold my XPA-5 been there done that no thanks. Rotel>Enotiva by a landslide. My little Sony N-220 smokes that emo in sound quality no b.s. anyone in Houston who feels different can come do a side by side at my house. For home theater however it smokes the Sony but music production it comes in second not nearly as detailed. SMOKED!!

Funny as to how I don't own any Emotiva... -
How about we all start having friendly and logically oriented comments in regards to threads from here on out. If you want to walk the line, it just got super short.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm going to report you. J/K in all seriousness your right though and I was out of line appologies for polluting this thread with my b.s. It was bad form on my part let's play nice after all we all agree on one thing we all love audio equipment right? How about we all start having friendly and logically oriented comments in regards to threads from here on out. I have the UPA-2 stereo amp and the previous version, namely the LPA-1 which works very well with the RTiA's and even the LSi's.
There is no way the UPA amps will do the LSi speakers justice. By the ratings alone you can see that.SystemLuxman L-590AXII Integrated Amplifier|KEF Reference 1 Loudspeakers|PS Audio Directream Jr|Sansui TU-9900 Tuner|TEAC A-6100 RtR|REL T/9X SE Sub -

I don't think you polluted the thread at all. You owned an Emo and didn't like it. You've done side by side comparisons with other amps. That's fact.
I own an Emo and like it. But I realize that, as TroyD said, class-leading isn't saying a whole lot because there's not much competition in that class.
To me, the best thing about Emotiva is that it gets people into seperates. Some keep the Emo, others move up the chain once they get a taste of external amplification.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -

I agree with you that THEY are not in the same class. I am pre-ordering 2 of the mono-block UPA1 but I do not expect they will perform as the same level with Krell or Bryston.
I will use the UPA1 mono-block for certain application and I think they will do just fine with that application. -
Ok...how can you possibly know that this amp provides great bang for the buck? It just came out...and you've never even heard it. There's not even really any consumer feedback for it yet.
How can you possibly know anything about how much bang for the buck it has? Just because it's Emotiva?
/rant
That being said...it does look like it's got some potential. I dig the aesthetics...which are basically in line with all the other Emo products. Blue lights are cool.
Looks like the internals are laid out very cleanly...The specs are all great. Pretty beefy at 58 pounds...The nirvana inducer-

I've heard gear where the specs were over-the-top but the gear sounded like **** and visa-versa.
Not bashing this product as I think it is an inexpensive way for people just getting into this hobby a good chance to get into separates. That is new vs used separates. -
If that isn't one of the more bipolar posts I've read recently...
When did Emotiva become Evoltiva? I can think of worse used gear with no warranty that give some ppl pause for reflection. I can even think of more positive things to do like help instead of bash things all the time. I think Carver and Bob Carver suck but you'll also notice some other participation....you should try it.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Doesn't exactly sound like an amp with any balls to it. Hell, my B&k 307's amp section is probably better, and for the same price used. Oh well,to each his own I guess, just don't see the ground breaking gear the OP suggests.HT SYSTEM-

This post is bi-polar as well... hell toss in some ADD and you got a winner here!:p

For entry level seperates I think Emotiva definitely deserves a try. I don't think it compares to Sunfire, Rotel and the other brands we toss around here allot. I would'nt knock it though, but I agree some others go far and beyond to convince you how great the Emotiva stuff is.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
