Music Hall DAC 25.2 - Digital to Analog Converter(DAC) - Silver - 9/10 - *SOLD* to Adam2434
This is another DAC I've played around with and thought about a deep modification so much I bought another. It's brand new and will carry a full factory warranty. We can discuss that offline. I've had a bunch of entry level DAC's in the house over the last few months and they just keep eating away at my Bryston BDA-1.
Specifications:
electro-harmonix 6922 tube single-ended (rca) output
solid-state differential balanced output
ti PCM 1796 24bit/192kHz DAC
ti SRC 4192 asynchronous sample rate converter
high precision active crystal oscillator master clock
user selectable 96kHz or 192kHz upsampling
asynchronous reclocking and anti jitter control system
8 x oversampling digital filter
4 digital inputs: coax (s/pdif), optical, XLR (AES/EBU), or USB
2 gold plated outputs; single ended (RCA), balanced (XLR)
headphone output with adjustable analog volume control
large high current oversize r-core power transformer
thick brushed aluminum fascia and solid chassis
110v/220v voltage selectable transformer
detachable power cord
If you want to improve the sound of your inexpensive source, be that iPod/iTouch or vintage CDP...try a DAC. You can pick them up for a modest price and usually get a little tube madness thrown in depending on the model. As a testament to the build quality...this weighs 10 lbs static, minus power cord....its just a DAC
You know what the extra cool bonus of this Music Hall is? The fact you can use it as a headphone amplifier as well. I don't know about you but I've done more headphone listening in the last 2 years than I have in my entire life. Most of my listening is late at night and a solid source or source + DAC is a must. The iTouch has been my main source for alot of my music recently and a DAC combination really works for me.
Review: Unplggd 2009
The Music Hall uses a tube roller favorite, the 6922(6DJ8). Almost everything from Music Hall gets the modding folks in a frenzy so there are a whole host of things you can do yourself or pay someone else to do for you. I'd check out the Chris Johnson mods ala Parts Connexion as a guide.
Owners Manual
The output on XLR/balanced connections is SS only.
The unit will be packed to withstand a nuclear blast and Brittany Spears zombie holocaust. All connections ahve been treated with CAIG Pro-Gold.
Includes: Original everything...to include power cord, box, packaging and owners manual.

I've been heavily considering this DAC.
Don't you have a Cambridge DAC too?
If so, how would you compare the two? I'm considering the Cambridge too.
We can take this off-line if you want.5.1 and 2.0 ch Basement Media Room: Outlaw 975/Emotiva DC-1/Rotel RB-1582 MKII/Rotel RB-1552/Audiosource Amp 3/Polk LS90, CS400i, FX500i/Outlaw X-12, LFM-1/JVD DLA-HD250/Da-Lite 100" HCCV/Sony ES BDP/Sonos Connect. Adam - Thanks for the message and yes I do have a Cambridge Audio as well. I liked this over the Cambridge mainly because of the tube output stage and headphone capability. I have a bunch of nice 6922(6DJ8) tubes so it was fun to roll them again.
The build quality is much better with a nice thick faceplate, sturdy frame, oversized transformer and PCB layout that allows some easy mods as well as some room to change things easily. It's a great unit.

I have one of these in black and it is a sweet DAC. I paid $595 for mine brand new, so this is a great deal. When I bought mine, Music Direct threw in a Shuntaya Diamondback 5 ft. AC power cord for free. The cord was $125, marked down from $250, so I got a good deal too. I have not listened to it with the stock power cord. This DAC makes my CDP sound like my turntables. Except for the difference in volume, I'd be hard pressed to tell the diference. Good luck with the sale.Main System 2.2:
