discussing stereos @ my dads house last week his friend mentioned he had an old kenwood amp that was just collecting dust.
so i have a kenwood basic m2a amp(220x2@8ohms)
Im gonna hook it up 2day thru my hk354 and give it a try,
its got cool orange vertical meters on the front!
prob wont buy it just cuz its as old as me but was it will give me a good idea of what 200wtts sound like on my rti12s.
anyone have expierence w these amps?

Got any pics? Brother had a Kenwood amp circa late 70's / early 80's & it was a good workhorse."Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger

yeah thats it on the left,i got it hooked up rite now and this thing rocks.....have to say im impressed cause the guy im borrowing it from said he bought it new in 86,so its pretty old but works flawlessly.
Unless he sells this amp to me for 100 or less il probably pass and get something newer but hes letting me use it for as long as i want until i get something new.fronts=rti12s(cherry)

I had one and honestly, I would buy it if it's cheap- I LOVED my basic series stuff. While they are not "high end", that Basic series flat rocks for clean power vs price! When that line came out they were not cheap and I remember them getting good reviews. Take it home, hook it up and let us know what you think, I would be very interested in your thoughts.

thanks mopar......its hooked up now.....and it does rock.
i googled it and it was 700+ back in 85-1990,think il buy it and when i get a new amp(probably emo)il save it to power my some rear speakers when i get around to it.Im only doing 3.1 rite now but i listen to mostly 2channel music so im gonna wait until i get extra money put away for rear surrounds, probably monitor 70s from polk direct.
question tho....it can run 2 sets of speakers(a/b) so could i use it to power 2 rears and a center channel?fronts=rti12s(cherry)

i tweaked the crossover settings thru my hk354 and put some highend ics on it from ovation......it definitely gives a full deep sound w/ a definite boost in bass from my towers.il c what he wants for it but i want something new w lil more power but for now itl do the jobfronts=rti12s(cherry)

2 sets of speakers shouldn't be run from this amp simultaneously if your speakers are less than 8 ohms.
You'll be getting the same sound from both sets of speakers so you can't use both the 2 rears plus a center channel. It's only 2 channel amplifier so you'll get the same sound playing on two sets of speakers (usually for different speakers different room or bi-wiring to the one set of speaker).Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
my speakers are 8ohm....manual states it will run 2 sets of speakers
set a
set b
@8ohm or as u stated , 1 set biwired.
please correct me if im wrongfronts=rti12s(cherry)

I'm not familiar with that Kenwood but I have an integrated Kenwood that has a 'limiter' switch for 4 ohms...when that is engaged you can only run one pair of speakers....when it is not you 'can' run 2 sets of 8 ohm speakers...on it at the same time.
