So I recently had a couple of posts about wanting to get a different receiver because I was not satisfied with my polks and the Onkyo 706. After suggestions and such I went with the HK 354 refurb from the ebay. Just got it today and just wanted to say that I am quite pleased with the sound now. The problems that I had inn the past with strong brightness have seemed to disappear and the speakers now sound more well rounded. I just could not be happier. Thanks everyone for their suggestions and I would recommend pairing the Rti (or Rti A)series and monitor (and Tsi) series with Harmon Kardon receivers, its a nice mix. Also the receiver is very aesthetically pleasing.

I had that same receiver and loved it. That was a piece I should have kept.

royalty great choice. As I told you in the other thread. The hk beat out onkyo, yamaha, and pioneer elite as the best sounding receiver for music for my rig. The pioneer elite and onkyo are very dynamic but they just dont have the warmness of the HK. Congrats and enjoy

Congrats on the new HK, I love mine, but I can't wait to get a separate amp. Anyone ever paired an HK Avr and carver power amps? Just wondering how the combination will be.

I just saw that you have a carver amp royalty, are you using that with the HK on the RTi10's?

Yeah I would definitely add some power to the A9s. I really dont see a receiver being able to drive those woofers. You might be okay with the A5's just on the receiver....unless you really like your movies/ music loud....like me!

I believe I suggested you that amp as well. It's the same avr I have, and I think it's magic.

    Enjoy!
