Any Onkyo Tx Nr 1007 please help.

I bought the Onkyo Tx Nr 1007 instead the Denon 4810 to save some dough.
I have experienced some issues and need your feedback.

I assigned 2 of the Denon Dv 2500BTCI as HDMI source output using HDMI port1 and 2. When I turn the Onkyo 1007 and the Denon Dv 2500 btci on, the display on the Onkyo always show " analog" then the Onkyo processor starts to "click" and cycle to HDMI then Digital then analog then locks in HDMI. Sometimes, the Onkyo 1007 cycles only 1 time and it locks in HDMI . Sometimes, it cycles twice or three times for it locking in HDMI. My connections are 2 Monoprice HDMIs from 2 of the Denon DV 2500 btci to the Onkyo HDMI ports, no analog connection,

Is it how the Onkyo works by cycling from analog to HDMI or digital before it locks in the HDMI input(s) ? I would like to know since this is a defective unit, I will need to return it asap. Thank you.

Do you get sound ? I know nothing about the onkyo as I have the 607 but we have the same sexy bdp's and they are transports so analog is impossible being there is only hdmi

Does a bluray work and light up the DTS signs on the receiver? If not press setup after stopping a disk on the bdp or try using the audio button while a disk is still playing and fiddle around reading both manuals

I think the Onkyo did not recognize the HDMI signal from the 2500 BTci for some reason. The Onkyo stays at analog status. After I toggle around with different button sources on the Onkyo 1007 and then switch back to HDMI inout for the 2500 BTCI then the Onkyo start to switch from analog to HDMI .

My Pio sc05 is sooooo simply, HDMI1,2,3,4 manually switch with the same button. I may have a defective Onkyo.

I'll have to look at that manual myself..but I can definitely say that if you have assigned an HDMI input in the DIGITAL OUT menu for the Denon you should not have the Onkyo cycling through analog menus, etc. That is NOT what it is supposed to do. Now it will cycle through sound formats to lock onto what the Denon is putting out....that is normal...(Dolby, DTS, Tru HD, etc.)

Try turning the Denon ON first and then the Onkyo and see what it does?

One of us will be back later....when we have time to read your manual...or as Buy suggess above...Kuntasense may chyme in...he has that model, I believe..

My 1007 doesn't do that, but I'm using the Oppo BDP-83. Either it's a strange HDMI handshake issue with your Denon, or you have a defective unit. My only thought would be to try using different HDMI ports on the 1007. Other than that, you might search the 1007 users thread over at AVS to see if anyone's having issues with Denon players, and maybe post your problem there.

Have you updated to the latest firmware?

I do not even know what FW I have. I took the 60 something pounds home and started to play with factory set up. I mainly use it for 2 channel playback. Sounds pretty darned good just lacking the "attack" but the mid-range is darned smooth.

Mantis told me to turn on the BDP on first so I turn both of my BDPs on first and the 1007 a few seconds later then everything is fine now.

I still like the Pio SC05 friendly user interface : HDMI1, HDMI2....all can be switched with one button " HDMI" on the remote controll.

Thank you guys for helping me out .

There were a few handshaking issues that were fixed with the latest firmware. If you have it plugged to a network cable, go into the menu and tell it to update. Should take maybe 10 minutes, and when it gives you a checksum message, power it off and back on and you should be good.

I'm really liking the 1007 and its sound with my RTi70 towers, especially after careful calibration with Audyssey. You're right about the mid-range being smooth, but I'm finding the biggest improvement for me has been mid-bass response. Could just be because I'm feeding my speakers more power than before, but it was definitely a vast step up in sound from my Onkyo 705.

Could the problem be as simple as the Onk is set to auto detect instead of set to HDMI? I know on a lot of the newer stuff you set it to auto or to a cetain type so it doesn't do the search for HDMI. It just stays there. Could that be the case?

I would report it to Onkyo to see if they can offer any suggestions. If it's a handshake issue that they can reproduce, odds are that they'll fix it in a future firmware update. They've already done one update so far to handle a few issues such as this.

While I don't have that model, I can say that my '605 doesn't do this at all; I pop a disc in my Panasonic DMP-BD10A BD player, the player does the HDMI handshake with my '605, the '605 passes the video over to my display (the main Blu-ray Disc screen), the '605 shows the last PCM signal received on the display (DVD/Multich) and then when I select a track from a disc's menu, it does not cycle through any modes at all -- it simply flashes the "HDMI" logo on the display and waits for the handshake, and then displays the appropriate mode, which can be Dolby D, DTS, Multich, etc.

I don't think what the OP is describing is normal for an Onk receiver.

Hello. I recently purchase a onkyo receiver txnr1007. The problem is with the hdmi ports. There is an intermittent audio signal when I select any of the 6 hdmi source. The video signal is ok and is not intermittent.

I already updated the latest firmware.

Analog ports have no problem, the audio and video signal are continuous and normal.

I have a hdmi cables brand tartan cables v1.4. from blue jean cable.
    thanks for your help.

Sadly, there was a run of 1007s that had a faulty circuit that caused what you're describing. You might give Onkyo a call and see what they say. Alternately, see if the company you bought it from will swap it out for another one.
