Hmm, price seems a bit low to me. I would be skeptical. However, dude has a 100% rating, so I would ask him some questions if you are really serious about it. Find out more about it.

Already sent a question sheet asking, How long he has used it, any problems with it, do you have any rear pics of it. I would die to have this. It would allow me to upgrade a lot in the future. I just wanted to get more opinions before I buy it. More opinions please.

If it is priced right, and something you "must have" don't wait to long...

LOL I do not have another room to add a HT. If I get this one I will sell the one I have now and get some amps in the future.

Does anyone have a rear shot of this receiver? I googled it and the one that came up was a onkyo.

Isn't that just a bidding price? So wouldn't that mean it will RISE before you get it.

John, not sure why you think the unit looks in bad shape...it seems OK for being a few years old...just bad pics...too much reflection. If you look closely it's in reasonable shape..would be nice to see the back end...if a unit is efed up the first thing to be torn off is the flip down panel...but this one is still there!

I also doubt this guy has got his figures right...if that receiver weighs in at 50lbs..packed, it's at least over 40lbs unpacked and should have more than 100 watts/channel.

I would look up the spec on Pioneer's sites in their archives section.

Being an Elite it will have everything you need except HDMI and HD-sound processing because of its age. It should have pre-outs and 5.1 or 7.1 ins so you could, perhaps use the mulit-analog ins for Blu-ray sound playback if you have a BDP that decodes HD and has multi-analogs out!

Should be a nice receiver if it is functioning?

I looked at the specs...all I can say is that that must put out a GENUINE 100 watts to all channels....because its one big-a$$ AVR....

215 is a great price...Elite equipment is pretty good and fairly reliable....the only thing 'suspect' is the 3 day money back return offer he has..

Does that 3 days include the 5-7 days it will take to get to your house UPS ground!

I'd make sure that you can return this if it is, in fact non-functional. Otherwise...great price!

If you're going to go 7.1, my recommendation is that you should shoot for a receiver that supports the new master audio formats.....That being said, you could spring for a Blu Ray player with analog outs. I love my Pioneer Elite!

To me it is not worth the $$$. Nothing new going for it and for a few $$$ more you can get what you want these days. I have a Pio '94 and paid big $$$ for it, now Pioneer has something newer, better, more bells and whistles, and it sells for 499. This reciever borders on "vintage".

BAF, I know what you mean when you say its hard to pass on a good deal.

Audiogon Bluebook shows Used Avg for this is about $600, but that's based on limited sales and the last sale could have been when it might have been worth that much-who knows. It also indicates that it was released in 2002 - That was 8 years ago already .

A recent sale of a VSX-43TX sold for $325 on Audiogon (note its a diff model)

Oh yeah keep in mind it's also $30 shipping.

Personally I'd pass, but that's just because I'm all about the HiDef audio formats and HDMI lately--however if I needed a decent AVR for another room or family member that doesn't do HD it looks like a pretty decent price. Of course as long as it has analog inputs the decoding for HD formats could be done by the player so you would only have to be concerned about HDMI.

I'd buy it. That's a bigass mean reciever, and for that price, if you don't like it, you'd have no problems getting your money back, and probably a little more.
