Polk lsifx vs axiom qs8
I posted this on avsforum too, but didn't really get the answers I was looking for.
Polk LSIFX vs Axiom QS8
So i have been looking around the net for this info but i can't find the info that i'm looking for.
I'm currently running a Polk LSI setup, which includes the LSIC center, a pair of LSI15s for fronts, and the LSI7s for surrounds. The 7s are powered by my receiver (harman kardon avr254) and the fronts are powered by an Acurus 200x3.
I'd like to move the 7s to rear duty for a 7.1 setup, but i'm not sure if i should get the LSIFX ( http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/l...ex.php?s=lsifx ) to match as Side surrounds, or the Axiom QS8s( http://www.axiomaudio.com/qs8.html ).
I have read quite a few reviews about the QS8s and how great they are, and i can get them for about $100-200 less than the LSIFX. What i've had trouble doing is finding reviews of the LSIFX speakers, other than on Polks' own website. does anyone have one or know where i can find one?
What do you guys think of these speakers? should i timbre match the surrounds and get the LSIFXs, or should i get the Axioms for a bit less money? The money isn't a big deal to me (at least for these 2 speakers), i just want the best surrounds i can get.

I would definitely timbre match for the best soundstage."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

The LSi series is unique timbre.
If you like LSi speakers and you will add to the series because change another brand.
Use LSif/x and are an excellent complement..

I'm running the LSiFX for surrounds & them blend in very nicely with my AAD mains & center. In your situation I would recommend to keep everything in the same family. By the way...the LSiFX's sound awesome! I like them so much that I'm kicking around the ided of adding the LSi15's & the LSiC so my whole system is timbre matched. I'm running them off of my NAD AVR & they just sound great.

See, another problem with the lsifx for ME Is that I would either have to get another amp or run it off of my receiver... I don't know if the poor avr can handle he lsi's And the lsifxs

Yes, I would need another amp.
It has a good system or program but must choose to upgrade to future -
The LsiFX's are excellent speakers, And I agree with Face and Bernal that you should timbre match your speakers....... I had a CSiA center with LSI-15's, you could hear each individual speaker, the front stage had seams in it . When I added an LSIC the front stage became seamless and there was a significant widening of the soundstage.
LSI's love power and the LSiFX's are no exception. Power them well and you'll be amazed at the sound.

I agree with the guys here, some good advice. Save up the coin for the LSiFX's, and get an external amp to bring those LSi's to life. BTW, what AVR are you using to power your LSi's right now? Be careful with the volume knob until you can give them the power they need to sound their best. Don't want to have to replace the AVR or the speakers before you have a chance to enjoy them.

Well, i guess i'll save up and get the LSIFXs then. I do like how everything blends right now.
i'm using an HK AVR254 to run the LSI7s. The 15s and Center are powered by an Acurus 200x3.
But until i get another/bigger amp, my reciever should be fine to run some 7s and LSIFXs, right? i know the 7s are more like a 6 ohm speaker than a 4 ohm (talked to polk customer support and they said that my AVR will be fine for the 7s, as their impedance curve isn't nearly as low as the 9s/15s), so i'm guessing i'll temporarily be ok running the FXs off the AVR for the time being as well? -
I am not expert on the LSi's, but I would imagine you would be ok for now. Edit to my original post, I didn't know you already had an amp for you rig. 200W per channel x 3 is a good start.

xpa-5 be about cheapest AMP to power your system. Try find one used when you have the money. -
The AVR is fine, will drive the loudspeakers safely and I would suggest going with the LSiFX. You don't need an external amplifier but I'd probably look into it down the road as it should be a solid upgrade.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
