Energy Take 5 or Polk RM10 5 pack?

Apparently, I'm too stupid to use the search effectively:o. I found a few things on the take 5, but not much. I know someone has had to have asked about a comparison between these two before. I have another commission coming soon at work hopefully, so I plan to get some small sat/surround speakers to replace my sonys, and probably a psw505 to replace my crappy sony sub. I will be using this for HT only as I use the 11Ts for music only. So which one would you guys say would work best? I've heard a lot of good things about Energy's speakers, but many reviews I've read on the take 5 pack are from people who obviously have no clue what good sound is, and the same on many of the RM10 reviews. I know that is because these are products that would have more mass appeal and not so much audiophile appeal. Either one has to be better than what I have for HT though. They are both going for a price even I can afford, and are the same size as my current sats. Floorstanding isn't an option for me, and these will have to go where the current speakers are(mounted). My room is 12 x 17, and I'm running 6.1 FWIW.
From what I understand, the Polks would be better on paper due to the better low frequency response, which would allow the sub to be set at a lower frequency, but the Energy speakers seem to get great reviews on the upper mid and highs. I also know I can purchase a single RM for the rear channel, and cannot do so for the Energy, but that isn't a deal breaker. I really like the look of the Energys to, but if they sound bad, then looks don't really matter do they! Anyway, I apologize if I'm repeating another post, but...I'm a little slow sometimes:( So which ones would you guys pick and why? Do you have a better suggestion? Thanks so much for your help!:D

Really? C'mon I know someone knows more about this than me. Is it because the speakers suck, and don't deserve a comparison?

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I've heard good things, but I have never heard them. I was hoping someone here would be able to "enlighten" me, but I guess the energy take 5 pack isn't on anyone's radar really:( I know it's on the low end of Energy's line up, but I have to start somewhere. I'm not near as finicky about the HT as I am the 2 channel music. My poor sony speakers are getting their asses kicked by the Marantz, lol! You should see the EQ settings I had to go through just to make them sound "ok", haha!Sony 40" LCD

I had a set of the Take 5's and found them to sound very nice, but they were horribly ill equipped to handle the Yamaha RX-v2090 that I had them paired to. I was always blowing the speakers. That is how I ended up here...The Gear... Do you think they could handle my SR6003 with the Xover set at 120hz/140hz? Do you think the RMs would do better?

well if you're price sensitive at all. newegg.com has the Energy take classics for 149.99 if you use the supplied code on their website.Main 2ch -

Yep, and they have the RMs for $199. If only I could get some more opinions from the folks on here:( I am worried about their ability to handle power, and the sound of them too. Thanks for the help so far though guys, I do appreciate it!!!:)Sony 40" LCD

I have the polk rm20 surround set. which is the same as the rm10 but with bigger fronts. although i can't compare them to the energy speakers cause ive never heard them but i've read good things about them. but i have to say, for me, and im not a pro of any sort, these polks sound great to me while i didn't have a lot to spend. i found a local company going out of business and clearancing their stuff out so got the polks for pretty cheap. i had also got a rm10 set and am going to use 2 of those as my rears so i can have 7.1 system. and i sold the ones i didn't need. don't know if that helps, but to me the those small sats with the rm10 put out some pretty nice sound, you probaby wouldn't be disappointed in either decision. good luck, le us know what you do

Thanks for the input! It sounds like the RMs would suit the bill quite nicely, but I really like the look of the Energy take 5. The take 5 is less expensive as well. Nooshingjohn, did you have them crossed over, and at what frequency? I only wish someone had a little more input on the Energy take 5 speakers so I could make a honest fair decision between them and the RMs. I have no problem getting input on the RMs, but the Energy is proving more difficult. I want someone on here to give me a good opinion as I trust what you guys tell me more than I do the reviews on the websites where they can be purchased from. I know either speaker would be far superior to what I have, but..... Thanks for the input so far guys! Hopefully, there is more to come:)Sony 40" LCD

[ I have no problem getting input on the RMs, but the Energy is proving more difficult./QUOTE]That should speak for it self! When shopping, anything that was energy didn't appeal at all to me. It turned out Polk RM20 packs suited the bill, the looks and quality were also there! The RM10's uses the exact same drivers as the RM20's (20's have 2 drivers while 10s have only 1 driver).
Cheers!
