Hi Guys
Can someone please tell me, if the denon 4308 A/V reciever is the right choice for these speakers? The dali ikon 6's are rated at 6 ohms. I have the 5.1 setup (vokal 2, ikon 2's, and the ikon 6's)
I have the denon 3800 as well?
Also, can someone please help me in choosing how to setup this to the reciever? im a bit confused on this issue, due to the following reasons:
So here are my choices: regarding the 3800
#1----HDMI to HDTV and Analogue (RCA) (from the 3800) to reviever for the sound
#2 ---HDMI only to reciever (for video and sound only using 1 HDMI)
#3---Both the HDMI and Analgue(RCA) go directly to the reciever
I want to play movies with surround, but also want to play stereo music...
I want the "best" surround choice, and the "best" possible sound for stereo?
Now here is the part that confuses me since this is the 1st time ive ever owned something this high end or even a reciever... Its said that the denon 3800 DACs are better than the 4308...So im not sure how to do this... Also, I dont know if I need to use the analoge ( RCA jacks) inorder to take advantage of the burr brown DACs....And then just use the HDMI directly to my HDTV???
Also, the 4308 reciever says it has analogue to digital burr brown DACS, dont know what this means??? Catch what im trying to say, i just dont know the best possible way I can hook this up, so I can just sit on my couch pop in a movie, watch with great surround, and then pop a cd in , and get the best possible sound from stereo (without having to reconnect stuff) just swtiching settings
thanks you guys so very much

1 .- The 4308 Ci is 6 ohms.
2 .- Preferable HDMI at all.
3 .- Best sounding DVD on HDMI (Dolby TrueHD, dts-HD Master Audio up to 7.1 ch bitstream output). DVD to be similar to OPPO BDP-83 or OPPO DV-980H capacity.
4 .- Dac 4308 are better even supports SACD (3800: not compatible with SACD)
5 .- Just HDMI. Do not mix with RCA.
6 .- 4308 converts analog to digital for HDMI (Dolby TrueHD, dts-HD Master Audio up to 7.1 ch bitstream output).
7 .- 4308 is excellent.

Ok thanks for the responses. I had one more question regarding upsampling 16 bit to 24 bit.
I got a response from denon that says if I want to upsample my cds (I have a denon 3800 to play these) from 16 bit to 24 bit, I cant use HDMI, I have to, and this is the quote, :There is no up-conversion of audio with the DACs. However, if you connect the CD player with analog audio inputs, AL24 will upsample 16 to 24 bit."
So im really confused right now. So how should I hook my denon 3800 up to my denon 4308? Should I use HDMI for blu rays, and use analogue for my cds? And what settings do I need to set for this? Where do I plug the RCA connects to the reciever (the front of reviever or back - I want the up sampling)
I just want the best possible music, and best possible blu ray formats.
Sorry for all of the questions -
All-in HDMI 1.3a
3800 → 4308 → TV.
BluRay → 4308 → TV.

Hi Guys -
I just re read my posts, and noticed I said Ikon 6's, I meant 7's. (the ones that are maxed at 200 watts)
Do you think it would be beneficial for me to get an amp for better music and movie playback. Or would the Denon 4308 be just fine at 150 watts max? If so, which amp would be the best for these speakers?
Thanks Guys
Im worried that the amp wont handle my martin logan descnet i subwoofer with my dali ikon 7's without sounding distorted at louder levels? Thanks -
whoops. Sorry I forgot to mention, if getting an amp would benefit my receiver, what kind of amp do I get? There is a pre amp, amp, integrated amps?
I was looking at the arcam range? FJF or Solo range not sure though?
Thanks for your time and patience with me. Im new to this and all of this stuff is very interesting, it just amazes me how two different brands/kinds of amps can sound so different doing the same thing.
