Okay, like the titles reads, I am going to attempt my first diy sub. The materials include:

1) Shiva-X 12" Driver
2) Behringer EP1500 Amp
3) Recessed 5-way banana speaker terminal
4) 3/4" Thick MDF
5) Fiberglass stuffing (insulation from Home Depot)
6) Paradigm X-30 external crossover

My sealed cabinet's dimensions are: 18.5" x 20" x 20.75" giving me 4.4429 cubic feet. The MDF cut sheet will be .75" x 49" x 97" , enough to construct the whole box.

The following is a generic, but yet good model I found for the cabinet off of AVS.

MediumSealedShiva.jpg?t=1208769613

The board's dimensions are as follows:

Top & Bottom: 18.5" x 20.75"
Front: 18.5" x 18.5" w/ 12.5" diameter circular cutout
Back: 18.5" x 17" w/ 2.875" x 2.125" rectangular cutout
Left & Right" 18.5" x 18.5"

Front baffling and center bracer: 17" x 18.5" w/ 11.125" diameter circular cutout

I also will lightly stuff the cabinet with the insulation to dampen the resonance and attach spikes on the bottom of cabinet.

I will hook this up to a bridged Behringer EP1500 giving me 1400 watts for this puppy, and also use the Paradigm X-30 external crossover for this.

In closing, I am asking for any advice, help, thoughts, opinions, critiques. I want to make sure the .75" thick MDF is a good enough piece of material for this sub, so forth. If I can get the Behringer A500 instead of the EP1500 tell me. Also, I wanted to make sure my cutouts were accurate, the sealed design will be adequate. When looking the at the excel spreadsheet graph, the SPL vs Frequency looked really impressive.

All in all I am excited about starting this and would like overall opinions on the project! Oh yea, I am also giving my HSU STF-2 a plug since I will be selling it locally! =D

Have a nice day and thanks in advance for the help
