Yep good old Class A draws the same amount of current whether at idle or running full bore.my Class A Monarchy is off unless it is being used. Funny, the 30wpc 2ch amp uses more in standby then all the amps in my HT.Testing

I was told that it is best for the life of a amplifier to leave it powered on all of the time. Is this true
I leave my SS amp on, so yes.
Tubes? No.
As far as the life of the amp? I just enjoy the way they sound knowing what I know. Beyond that? It depends on the manufacturer and with quality gear....what my answer is will satisfy most audiophiles.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

To everything that's been said supporting what I said in the very first response and what treitz3 is saying now.
Now, getting to tubes..are the only reasons why we leave those off when not in use because the shortened life expectancy (of the tubes themselves) and power consumption? I've got a hybrid amp, hmm I think I'll go google that and educate myself some. :rolleyes:Truck setup
