doro, do yourself a favor buy it when you can, I have the 30 as a rear now and the 40 center, great and massive speaker for the money, new priced its a little steep at double the csi30, but with sales as i got mine its worth it, My living room is now a big speaker, no living left, just listening LOL

I had the 30 a long time ago and upgraded to the 40, last week when i got the 30 although its big, i had forgot how small it was compared to the csi40,

Faster - Yea I definetly will get motivated. The CSi40 was part of the original plan for the front, with the CSi30 in the rear. But due to finances, I had to take a alternate route to starting the system. That thing is big eh? That motivates me, I have heard such good things about it....ugh. I have so many little things to do in addition to that...this hobby is mind altering :)

believe me i know about money constraints, It taken me a year or longer to get everything i wanted, many trade ups.. sells and re-buys over and over, lost money on the re-sales, that always stinks.. just plan to lose half when re-selling as it seems with speakers, unless vintage or hard to find.

The csi30 is perfect for rear duty!! I still need to finish my simple shelf and paint black, still need the techflex and shrink tube to fancy up my bi-wire,

a Pioneer elite dvd 45 model is next after Christmas... gotta save for the holidays now.

just saw the Fry's Electronics ad for Austin, TX. They have the RTi100's on sale for $499 a pair.

I keep waiting on the RTi70's but they never seem to go on sale again...

You know, I don't think the current prices are that GREAT of a deal. Yes they are on sale and yes it is a good price but untill they get to the GOOD prices I don't get too excited. Then again I already have what I need so I can be a bit more choosy than someone that is still building.
Here are what I think are GREAT prices.
    RTi70 - $300-350 a pair
    CSi40 - $200-250
    Front
    Polk RT800i (BI-wired)
    Rear

    Center
    Polk CS400i (BI-wired)

    that's exactly how i feel fgr41.

i'm hoping that sometime soon Fry's will have the RTi70's on sale. it seems like every week that have one set of Polks on sale for good prices. i've seen the R30s for 140/pair, R50s for 199/pair, and this week it was the RTi100s for 499/pair. i'm hoping sometime soon they will have the RTi70s for 300-350/pair. at that price i will definitely jump in.

This just in.. Csi30 for 149. I paid 189 like two weeks ago so I went and got the difference back. That will fund my Rti28 upgrade to the 38's. Question, do you think the upgrade from the 28's to the 38's is justified? It's only like 40 bucks difference. I would have done an A/B comparison but I didn't have the time just yet.

40 bones is a small price to pay for the big jump. Go for the 38 all the way.

Thanks for the complement. Got the polk fever & CircuitCity is great. Got 4 Rti'38 and CSi30 all open box. But who cares as far I know they are from the authorized dealer.
Currenly eagerly waiting for my pb2+ for HT so that I can move my 20-39pci to my compter rig.
I still think the current deal in CircuitCity is great. If somebody is looking for CSi40 check Crutchfield for their Scratch & dent store. Last I saw was $254.99 with free shipping.

Well I intially thought of selling it but I would be without a sub on my computer rig. Then I thought of buying a cheaper sub but I knew that no sub can satisfy me after listening to SVS. So just kept it and ordered a pb2+ that hopefully will be coming in few weeks.

Thanks for the tip. I bought two CSi40's from CC today for $240 each and traded-in my RTi28's for their original purchase price of $140 each.

    Call me unconventional but here is my new setup. Mains - CSi40 x 2, center - CSi40, surround - RTi38 x 2, back surround - CSi30, sub HSU-VTF2.

I could have bought RTi70's for the same price, but what the heck, I don't like towers.

Definitely better than the RTi38's as mains, which is what I had before demoting them as surrounds. The mid bass is noticeably better even though the specs state that the -3db low limit is 50 Hz for both RTi38 and CSi40.

I switched the two main driver terminals of one, so that the two CSi40's are symmetrical when laid upright (as the tweeter is off center in CSi40). But even before doing that, I thought a pair CSi40s could image well (at 7 feet apart in my setup).

Now I could get full sound in "Direct" mode of Onkyo (ie. stereo with sub-off). With RTi38's, direct mode sounds too bright due to lack of mid bass.

so how did you mount those? seems to tall to use stands and off centered for weight, unique idea indeed..

On top of a shelf, on a recessed wall. The tweeters of the center and mains are only 5 inches apart in vertical displacement, which I think is still ideal, with the center speaker placed underneath the TV. I'm still playing with the vertical orientation of the mains - whether to put the <800 Hz driver below or above ...
