Just got my Fxi50's from crutchfield. I have been reading that the side surrounds should be about 2 ft. above the listening position. Any opinions? I tried it and it sounded way to distant. The rest of my almost complete system:

Receiver = Denon 2803
Center = Csi40 (biwired)
Fronts = Rti70's (biwired)
Sides = Fxi50's
Rears = Rti38's
Sub = 12" Sony (the last piece will be a SVS!)

By the way, Thanks to everyone who helped me pick out the speakers (Rti 70's instead of 100's and Fxi50's instead of Rti28's) great advice! This thing sounds terrific!
Receiver = Denon AVR-3803
DVD = Denon DV-2900
Fronts = SDA SRS 2.3TL's
(Carver m1.5t)
Center = CSi40
Side surrounds = Fxi30's
Sony 12" sub
TV = Hitachi 57F500

Bedroom rig:
Pioneer SX-1050 receiver
Rti38's

    acdds,

    I had the same problem when I installed my surrounds. Did you recalibrate the new speakers already? After I used a SPL meter to balance the system, the sound field got *HUGE*! :cool:

    I did recalibrate after setting the 50's up high. It still sounded like all the sound was going above me when it should have been surrounding me. I put the speakers back to ear level and the sound was completely enveloping! It really sounds great. I guess I just like to be immersed in the sound field instead of having it float above me.
