There's a thread somewhere about where to buy black paint. That should solve that issue.

Two HDMI outs, one video, one audio?

Looks like a cool machine, but I agree that the non matching screws are tacky. I wonder if it comes with the velvet mat?

I have learned that the remote that's included with the Marantz is not this one. Damn, I was about to pull the trigger too......~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

You mean, you can't afford that model...I have learned that the remote that's included with the Marantz is not this one. Damn, I was about to pull the trigger too......

One output could be for standard use(Blu-ray, DVD) and the other could be for sending multi-channel SACD over HDMI. Just a speculation though.
Looks like a damn nice player. It's also WAAAAAYYY out of my price range...lolThe nirvana inducer-

Super nice player. This is one issue with player of this class: it becomes obsolete in 2 years, 3 years max, unlike a SACD/Redbook player 2/MC channels that seem to hold its value a few years better.
But hey, it's only money.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
I would buy it, but I don't like the color of the screws.
Every piece of Marantz gear I have owned has those same copper colored screws, usually not visible in the rack.
If you've seen any of the newer Marantz gear, what really looks and feels cheap, are the plastic panels on each side of the face. -
Nothing looks cheap in my SA-11S1, and there are no screws in the front/top/sides._________________________________________________

At that price difference (nearly tenfold), it's not exactly an alternative...__________________

I guess it's personal preference, but I still prefer the old style thick aluminum face, with no plastic except the window. Plastic faces just don't seem right on expensive gear. -

You must be talking about other products. The SA-11S1 and all the ref. series has a thick aluminum face.

I see, the dealer I went to only had the standard line, no reference line. They give them all the same look now, but on the standard line it is definitely plastic. And you can see from the pics of the model above, the side panels are plastic as well.
Good to know the reference line is still well made. -

That player is beautiful (as well as the remote control pic) but way out of my price range. -

What makes you think it needs to sound and look as good as Blu-Ray to succeed? Look what MP3's are doing to CD sales. Quality is not the general publics concern.
A 1TB NAS setup is less than $200, but there is also streaming media, which requires no storage at all. -
How about the Denon DVD-5901Ci Reference player? Looks like Crutchfield has them for $999.00 versus the retail of $3800? There has to be a catch to it no?

They are about 4 years old now and Denon is discontinuing it. No catch.
