Doc et al.,

Is there something "to the tune of" getting a free tuning port upon request, or something like that, when you buy one of these subs from SVS? Thought I read that somewhere.

    Doc?
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

You can get a 22 Hz port for the 25-31PCi or CS, and a 17 Hz port for the 20-39PCi or CS. This option is free at the time of the order/build and is not available with the Plus subs, since they have variable tuning.

Is the 17Hz port something you add on to the sub or take away from it at will, depending on your sound preference? Do you need to request this at the time of the online order or do they send it with the sub anyway?

No, the 17 Hz port (vent) is longer than the 20 Hz port and is permanently installed at the time of manufacture. You get one or the other.

The 22 Hz tune on the 25-31 series is very popular. Not too many request the 17 Hz tune on the 20-39 series since the stock 20 Hz tune is plenty deep for most people. But hey, different strokes. Just be aware that you will probably lose a smidge of output in exchange for the slightly deeper tune if you opt for the 17 Hz port.

Thanks, Doc - from what you say it sounds like I might be better off just ordering the sub as is. Hopefully, I'll be placing an order before the end of the month or early September.
