Try looking at the Sanus stands from Crutchfield's website. I have the Sanus NF24B Black Pair for my FXi 30's.

How sturdy are they? Do they attach to the speaker or sit on top?

They just sit on top, but the stands are stable. I also used the self-adhesive Neoprene pads that come with the stands and they help to stabilize the speaker a bit more.

How high up are the speakers on the stands? I too was thinking of FXi30s on stands.

    brentman0110,

Hey I have my FX300i's on some Wood Technology FGH-31 stands. 31" tall have the speakers right at ear level when sitting down, real close to th height of the RT 1000i's too. Got them at Crutchfield for $74.99 Work fine look ok.

Thats all I got to say ...

I have mey FXI 30 sitting on Sanus NF 36 inch stand, which are the tallest stand that are made for that particular line. I still feeel that they are sitting too low. Surround sound speakers should be elevated to a height of about 6 - 7 feet off the ground. With these stand they sit maybe at 4 1/2 feet above the ground..

My Sanus stands are 24" high, and when I bought them I was under the impression that the tweeters needed to be at ear level, so now they are. But, I also hear about surrounds needing to be about 6.5' off the floor, or something like that, but I didn't want to wall-mount them just yet, and they do sound great where they are right now. I may wall-mount them later when I have the time and inclination to do the inside wiring.
