Installing RC80i...

I am closing on my new house in about a month and I want to install the RC80i's for surround speakers.

The one thing bothering me is that there is a bedroom right above where they will be placed... Is this going to be a problem? Is there anything I can do to isolate the speakers from the room?

    I installed TC80i for my back surrounds and purchased 2' x 4' x 2" thick fiberglass sheets from Home Depot and built a 5 sided "box" from that. I pushed that through the round hole I cut in the drywall ceiling to encapsulate the speaker before installing. It seems to work pretty well. With a bedroom directly above, you may need further sound insulation. I would recommend as mush fiberglass insulation in the ceiling as possible. If its already dry walled like mine is, then your stuck. If its a drop ceiling, you can take out the ceiling tiles and install fiberglass batting inbetween the floor joists. There are also prefab sound enclosures for in wall/ceiling speakers. You can Google that topic and get quite a long list of products. They're expensive. I don't know how they compare to DIY. Hope this helps.

    There is material you can put under the carpeting of the bedroom floor to help dampen the sound from below.

    Thanks for the help guys.

    I will check out the fiberglass insulation since it's drywall on the ceiling.

    The pre-fab enclosures sound nice but I want to keep the cost reasonable, otherwise I will stick with my current Fxi3 surrounds.
