Panasonic BD55 Player

I've got a question regarding the Panasonic Player.
Are all blu ray discs not 16:9? I've bought a few new blu rays recently and they all have black bars on the top. Is there a setting I'm missing?
I'm running everything HDMI into my 805 and then into my TV via HDMI as well.
Just curious.
Thanks!

they all have black bars on the top
Most all movies have the black bars on the top and bottom. That is normal and is the aspect ratio of the original motion picture.
Enjoy! -
Alright...I figured...but saw it fine on some and then bars on others. Which made me assume it was the movie.
Thanks! -
Here is a little more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspect_ratio_(image)Tschüss

If you dont want the black bars, I suggest you look into going with a scope setup and projector.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

If the back of the box says that the original aspect ratio is 1.85:1 then it'll fill up your whole screen
If it's 2.35:1 or 2.40:1 then you will see black bars on top and bottom of the screen. That's how the movie was originally shot and intended to be seen -
Or you could get a Kuro and turn off the lights and you can't see the black bars.
