question about speaker cables

Excuse me if this has been answered elsewhere, I would like to upgrade my bestbuy run of the mill speaker cables so I am wondering...Is the integrity or purity of the signal lost if I have nice cables that connect to the terminals in the back then go right back into some 18 gauge stock wiring? I don't get it.

Well, it took 4 years to study EE and takes another 2 years for field practice plus a whole life long dedication to Electronics Principles to get it.

Plus a whole lot of technical books, tools, measurement gadgets, about 5 tons of Audio Gears, several attempts to get things right and most of all, the tolerance (or endurance really) to Sales guys BS that you heard from BB, CC, and some folks in Audio Forums.

Sorry for my BS! Your question has been answered about 1000 times in the other threads and I guess you can find one using search function. I just wish this is not the beginning of another Cable Thread which stirs things again in the forum.

If you are looking for a plain simple scientific answer, the simple and truthful answer is "YES". Anytime, a signal (be it light or electrons or sound) passes through a medium or different medium or same medium with different density, the signal integrity is somehow effected. I believe it's mentioned in the 8th grade Physics?

I only got to 6th grade, ya know with the baking soda volcanoes and such. I bow down to your superior EE knowledge and life time experience.

The biggest loss of signal is usually in the connections. So the connectors themselves.

    I am here. Why?

nduitch, you ask a logical question. There have been 1,000,000's of debates about this and you'll find equal amount of opinions.

In a nutshell, some people hear differences (or claim to hear differences) when using better cables (this "better" could also get into an interesting debate), and some people don't hear anything. I stand on the first group. I don't care what others think, hear or do not hear. I enjoy my "better" cables.

I know this is not the answer you're looking for, but you will only know if you hear an improvement if you try it. Also, the resolution your gear/speakers are capable of reproducing will play a role here.

Thanks for posting that. I followed a chain of CandyLiquor threads through that post and got roughly half an hour of pure comedy out of it.:D

To answer the OP's question. Yes, in my opinion. That's all I'm going to say. This argument is tiring.
