Hi guys, I am hoping to hook up my audio card-Auzentech x-plosion
to my Onkyo HTR 520. Anyone have any experience with this?

Would I just connect the optical from the card to the opt. input on the amp?

Thanks for your help,
Matt

Wow Matt, that's a lot of info, seems like you answered your own Q! Some amps/receivers have great headphone amps built in, it really depends on the phones you're using, just like with speakers and the amp. So the ball is in your court, does this thing of which you speak work well? Headroom up in Bozeman MT has many fine amp/headphone combo's if it doesn't!

I'm using a Technics SA-GX690 Dolby Pro-Logic receiver as a headphone amp to my Grado SR60 headphones. The source is a Sony DVP-NS500V SACD/CD/DVD player playing CD/SACD in 2 channel stereo mode. The combo sounds yum-yum good.

Yeah, lol, I guess I did didn't I? Well, I guess what I should have asked is; "Do you prefer to use a separate headphone amp, or just use your AVR for your cans?"

    I will look into Headroom.

At any rate, I am getting tons of help from everyone here on this forum. I really appreciate it all!

    Thanks,
