Powersupply conversion 110->220

I have Onkyo receivers (805 and 506) and want to know
o How to check if the power supply is 110 - 240V @ 50/60Hz
o How to convert the Power supply from 110V@60Hz to 220V@50Hz
o Where can I get the powersupply
o Any tips on how to change and test before powering up? :confused:

If u r think why I wanna do it, I wanna take it to India :cool:

    Chech the back of the amp. It'll say 120V(50-60Hz) or even 110-240V. It might even have a tiny switch to go from 120 to 240.

    If the amp is strictly 120 volts, you'll need a step-down(takes 240V and gives 120V) transformer that can handle the required wattage. You do not need to modify the amp.

    The 805 seems to be 120V only.

    The 506 I don't know.

    Hi Vijay,
    If you have bought the avr in US its going to be only 120v, if you are planning to use it in India, You get a Step down transformer back home itself its going to be lesser priced and for weight and warranty issues, pick up one with atleast 1500 watts capacity, just to be on the safer side, The Yamaha says buy one with atleast 1.5 times the rated power consumption so check what is the power consumption of 805. Regarding the 50 hz or 60 hz no convertor or step down transformer can do this for home use.
