Reciever to HDMI inputs??

Are there any "reasonably" priced recievers on the market that have these features:
Video processing of HDMI inputs' and
Video processing of 1080i/720p component signals.' ?
I ask because I have an offer from a friend to buy his used Pioneer SC-05 for $400 but it has No video processing of HDMI inputs and No video processing of 1080i/720p component signals.
Does the new 2009 Pioneer recievers coming out in April 'Pioneer VSX-1019AH' have those features?

My only major criticism of the Pioneer SC-05 is its video processing, which is somewhat lacking compared to what the competition provides. B ut with Blu-ray moving toward the mainstream and HD content seeing growth from both cable and satellite providers, is HD video processing that big an issue? Is it something to have for the future?

You really have to jump up the list of AVRs to get a good or great video processor. Most AVRs under $1000 just don't do a great job but I am not sure it is needed anyway.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
Preamp: Joule Electra LA-150 MKII SE
Amp: Wright WPA 50-50 EAT KT88s
Analog: Marantz TT-15S1 MBS Glider SL| Wright WPP100C Amperex BB 6er5 and 7316 & WPM-100 SUT
Digital: Mac mini 2.3GHz dual-core i5 8g RAM 1.5 TB HDD Music Server Amarra (memory play) - USB - W4S DAC 2
Cables: Mits S3 IC and Spk cables| PS Audio PCs -
Its designed not to touch anything via HDMI input, so it will only pass it untouched. As for as component it will upconvert the signal to 1080p just go into the menu and tell it to do so. 400 for a SC05 I would have purchased it yesterday, grab it ASAP. Its truly a remarkable receiver.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I thought the 05 would upconvert everything else but HDMI? Why do you want HDMI processing anyway? Let the player do it's thing and leave it untouched, why do it twice and then maybe a third time in your display? That was one of the biggest plus sides of that receiver, IMO. If you don't buy your friends 05 for $400, let me buy it!:)

That's a fantastic price for that receiver. What is your hesitation?
It'll pass your signals through the HDMI no problem and it's a great receiver besides!

Thanks for the replies. He's selling it for $400 because he's a good friend and also it has some cosmetic scratches to it and I'm not sure really if there is anything else wrong with it, maybe he could have knocked it around because he shares an apartment with 2 other people and they're all aggressive film and tv buffs so they probably used it hard since last year.
Do any of you know if the 2009 Pioneer reciever lineup coming out in April will be as good or offer any new features that the SC05 doesn't have? -
if you're not going to take the 05 for 400 bucks, please pm me with his info so I can buy it

No, really! Not kidding!!

If I don't buy it I will ask my friend if I can post his email/contact info on this site on a thread or in PM's. I'll tell him there are people interested in it at this website and he can become a member here. But I need to let you guys know that I'm still very interested in buying it. I see him today and will go over his place, I just need to see how it plays on tv, dvd's, blu ray and hear it through his Onkyo 7.1 system which is the same speaker setup I have. You got to go with your own gut instinct, because it sort of felt fishy that he would sell a $900 reciever (what it's worth now) for $400 and if I were to buy it and it crap out on me and he knew all along it was gonna do that soon then that can ruin a friendship.
I'd like to see what Pioneer offers in their 2009 lineup coming out in April and if they filtered down the technology in the SC-09/07/05 into their new recievers that are selling for under $700.
If any of you get any new info on the new Pioneer VSX-1019AH reciever let me know. -
Only the flagship models will have the new Iceamps for now, so you have to step up to the SC models for that. As for whats coming out in 09 you probably wont really hear anything until Cedia around Aug-September time. The SC series is still rather new so I doubt they will filter down the technology so soon, though you never know. As for buying it, pull the trigger if you can, Im sold on my SC07 so Im good. But as said, its a sweet deal and Im sure some would buy it here.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

400$ for a Pioneer Elite SC-07 is a definite NO-brainer. I wouldn't even look or question anything else for that price.

Where are you seeing the Pioneer Elite SC-05 for $900? It still lists for twice that at authorized dealers like Best Buy, Vanns, and Amazon.com (little cheaper there).

Seriously man, at $400 you shouldn't even have to think about this. Test it out, and if it works, buy it and don't look back! -
You can get the Pioneer SC-05 at www.valueelectronics.com which is an official Pioneer licensed distributor. I emailed them to see if my eyes weren't playing tricks on me and they wrote me back confirming the price. Great customer service!

www.valueelectronics.com has the SC-05 at $899
-
That is one hell of a good price for that AVR.

Yeah it is, wow!
They have the SC-07 for $1299, which is also a fantastic price.
It's almost got me wanting to sell my Pio Elite 92 and upgrade to one of these just for the hell of it! -

SC07 for 1299, geesh. I paid around 1600 for mine, last yr around September timeframe.
Edit: I just checked on a'gon and ebay and sure enough 899 for the 05 and 1299 for the 07. Amazing prices as these are very good AVRs. I'd surely buy one again if I had to. They sound fantastic.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I can't see anything different between the SC-05 and the SC-07, except for the extra 10wpc.

07 uses higher end DACS, dual HDMI out, some other small things here and there. I'm using my 07 as pre/pro only, I use D-Sonic Iceamps on my fronts, 525 wpc to drive my Rti12s to the max, waiting on my Sunfire TGA5200 to arrive so I can move the Outlaw Monoblocks. Both the 05/07 are nice products. If youre in the market make me a deal, and I'll bump up to the SC09 :eek:Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Man oh man, i now want one of these Pio Elite SC's, a Sunfire 5200 or 5400, and a new Component Rack/TV Stand. Oh wait, i still need to buy a sub too! Oh, and i want to replace my A7's with A9's already too! Never ending..haha

Fine print!

I'm 232 miles from them though so i'm sure they would let that 32 miles slide, at least i'd hope! haha -
At UltimateAvMag.com they tested the Pioneer SC-05 against the flagship Pioneer SC-09TX and the video upscaling in the SC-05 actually surpassed the results from the SC-09TX with test patterns.
