LSI9 what best Emotiva XPA-5, Nad T-955 or Adcom GFA-7605

I just received my pair of LSI9 ... they look very nice but I don't like the way they sound with my Onkyo SR805. I want to get a 5 channels Power Amp and I don't know witch one would be a good match with the LSI9.
Emotiva XPA-5, Nad T-955 or Adcom GFA-7605. They all go for about $800.
Even if get a 5 channels my priority is a good audiophile sound in 2 channels music.
Any suggestions or advices are the welcome.

    Are they not a 4om speaker? could be wrong since i have never had a LSi setup. but that could be part of the problem if my guess is right. I think there is a topic on here about it though. so an amp would be the way to go.

    Tool is right those are 4 ohm speakers.

    Have you set the Onkyo 805 to 4 ohms, there is a menu for that. I can't imagine that any speaker would sound 'bad' on that Onkyo--they're pretty forgiving receivers. But it is quite possible that you need more "power".

    A lot of people here like Emotivas, I haven't heard them. Adcoms are good! But I think NADs are not what they used to be.

    For two channel sound, if that's what your looking for you're probably going to have to step up money wise. Or check out the used audio equipment on www.audiogon.com

    Welcome to Polk Forum. The one and only on the Net.

    Congrats on your LSi9 purchase and I know they are very nice speakers coz I have 2 pairs in my HT rig.

    You should listen to all 3 amps if possible. Emotiva is Internet Direct with 30 Days Trial. If you don't like it, you can return it for the cost of the amp but you'll lose shipping fees.

    Check out your local Hi Fi dealers to listen to Adcom and NAD.

    LSi9 is 4 ohms speakers as the posters above said it. The Onkyo AVR is good with 8 ohms speaker but for 4 ohms speaker load is a little too much for it. Getting an external amp is a very wise decision.

    yes they are 4 oms speakers and my Onkyo is set to 4 oms... I have no way to listen to those amp. i live in Venezuela and none of those brand name existe here. It cost me a lot of money to bring them here, so the 30 days money back does not apply here... Everything I buy, I buy it only by reading reviews and forum

    Oh...Sorry about that. It's hard to say what is suitable for you. You really need to listen.

    There are a lot of EMOTIVA guys on forum they'll say they recommend it. Likewise, there are a lot of NAD and Adcom persons on the forum they'll say about Adcom and NAD.

    Reading Reviews From Trusted Source is good but I don't know where is the trusted source.

    You need to make an educated guess based on your money and your own experiences.

    But one thing for sure, anything you bought here will cost you money to fix it even if it's under warranty since you need to pay for shipping back and forth. Can you buy something in Venezuela that you can listen to?

    it cost me $250 to get my Onkyo here. But i got a good deal on a refurb one. The Emotiva rate 350W per channel at 4 oms, the Nad only 100 W and the Adcom 125 W... Does this mean anything as fare as sound quality ? I don't think I need 350 W. What I want is clear and natural sound. Right now with the Onkyo the LSI9 sound very aggressive even more when I rase volume.

    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    I would call Adcom and see if they have a distributor in South America or in your country. I have seen Adcom, Parasound, and other brands at retailers in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina while I have been working down there.

    Well, you want the power for 5 Channel Setup? Go With GFA-7705 or GFA-7805 (5 Channels) would be powerful. They are not the best for 2 Channel Music. But they works well with LSi series speakers. Warmer sound and good bass too.

    There are other Brands to look for though. Parasound HCA-2205 is also very good with LSi Speakers. I have both GFA-7807 (7 Channels) and HCA-2205 but for the LSi, I like Parasound HCA-2205. I don't work for Adcom or Parasound or EMOTIVA or any other Audio Company.

    This Suggestion is made based on the experiences with my own ears. It might not be the same for you so I still suggest listening to a friend's system or a store demo near you.

    You can get "open box" or factory refreshed parasounds at audioadvisor.com. Some of their deals are pretty good considering they are authorized dealers. Just look under clearance gear.

    That's Parasound New Classic Line and I've heard people saying they are also very good. Some people like it very much and it's 250W x 5 Channels (8 ohms). I don't know about them and I don't own any.

    HCA-2205 is only 205 or 225 watts x 5 channel, I think. This is for 8 ohms rating.

    The power increases to around 300W x 5 for 4 ohms, I think.

    I believe I saw a factory refreshed 5250 for about $1500 at AA. I am very happy with my 2250.

    dont ever use the 4ohm setting on onkyos. Its basically just a power inhibitor.
