Parasound's C3 gives up the ghost

Parasound announced that they are not going to bring their new processor to market. Is making and delivering a processor that difficult? Is HDMI 1.4 pushing smaller companies off the grid? Very disappointing to me.

First Outlaw, then Parasound. The HDMI BS is changing too fast. That is why I just stick with video direct to TV, audio via optical or analog for the newer codecs. Venom

I think the market is the problem. Let's face it....the big boys. ..higher end gear is never as cutting edge as the mass market stuff. Look at an Onkyo 5007, a Marantz 8003, or a Pioneer Elite SC09, etc. These guys can sell enough, and afford to upgrade their tech 'every' year...every cycle. The SEPARATES boys will NEVER be able to keep up...since that NEW tech is NOT really their MARKET! And they don't sell enough to be profitable. Whereas the manufacturers above sell lots of lower end units and their margins are greater.

It's a LOSING battle if you expect separates manufacters to compete with the likes of Onkyo and Pioneer in the AVR market of features!! They just 'can't' do it!

The big boys are currently pushing flawed products. Though not totally through the fault of their own... the interface itself is flawed.

Parasound made a substantial effort for several years and decided the product could not meet standards.

Big difference there between the ability of a company and the demand of quality.

I wish to clarify...I am disappointed in that I have to wait longer for Parsound's processor, not in their decision to scrap the C3. I think they did the right thing.
