The PR's on the vintage Polks were somewhat prone to bubbling up over time. That's probably the most extreme case of it I've ever seen though. Those hardly look "brand new"...by the looks of that PR.
That's one of the earliest versions of the RTA 12...so it's probably slightly more prone to the PR bubbling.The nirvana inducer-

I had a pair of the 12s that did the same thing. Only one of them bubbled up while the other one stayed in good shape. I still have the one good one stored in a box in the closet.
I did notice a lot of oxidation to the frames when I pulled them out. The one that bubbled out that bad did show more oxidation than the good one. I remember thinking at the time about the moisture causing it. -

That's funny stuff
