I have a question for you about SACD's. Why do I have to play my SACD's at a higher volume than I do with regular CD's. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome Stephen.
Not sure, I do not have to do that. Any particular ones or all of them.
It is common to have to play some CD's louder than others due to the recording, but not just SACD.

That makes sense. I am new to the whole Multi Channel Audio experience.

Sometimes the multichannel inputs have separate trim levels from the Dolby or other inputs. Also, the multichannel inputs usually don't get processed as much. All in all, its pretty typical.

Thats an easy one. Its one of two things or a mix of them both.

If its on the same player its solely because dynamic range(the difference between the softest sound and loudest sound) of SACDs is MUCH higher then that of normal CDs(maybe a few orders of magnitude). So to be able to hear the softest sounds you have to turn your gear up louder to compensate for this larger difference.

If how ever you have more then one player(or using different recordings) it could be a mix of two things some CD players (or recordings) put out stronger signals then others. So if you have more then one player for your CDs/SACDs then that could play into it but in large part again its because of the higher dynamic range.

With my Denon 2900 I have the same situation with SOME SACDs. My Telarcs come to mind.
