While this is absolutely true , this whackjob was an old **** with a serious criminal history...not some kid using dads gun.

" Kelley says deputies took 32-year-old Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood into custody and he is being held at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He is expected to face at least two counts of attempted first-degree murder and will appear in court at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for an advisement hearing.

Authorities say Eastwood used a bolt-action, high-powered rifle. 9Wants to Know has learned he has a lengthy criminal history of charges, including assault, domestic violence and DUI.
    "

    32 = old ****? :confused:

I hate to say this but...

The teacher that tackled him is a freaking hero. I could only hope he is as celebrated as the pilot that landed the plane in the river last year. That pilot did an awesome job, and I don't want to take anything away from him, but he really didn't have a choice. This teacher had a choice and he chose to put his life on the line to potentially save others. The same goes for our soldiers that enlist in the armed forces. They choose to put their lives up for the better of others.

i hope the school brought in counselors for the students.. they need to talk about it while it's fresh in their minds.

if you haven't already.. talk to your daughter about how she feels about the incident.

Yes, there are some sick people out there. Glad it did not turn into a full disaster. A lone gunman open fired in my High School back in '75 which changed the gun laws in Canada. I will never forget that day as one, I knew the victims and shooter, and it happened on my birthday.

Just saw this on the news here in Japan, glad your little one is OK bro. The teacher saved the day.

Man, the world is getting sad. Imagine the US without guns, except for the Police and military. In Japan they have this and crime seems to be very low, not mention children are treated like royalty due to the culture.

    Just caught this Larry.

Really sorry about all that madness! I have a 12 year old daughter...living in a city bigger than any city in the U.S. for this year--Beijing. She goes to a University school...a small minibus picks her up and returns her. I have to say that I have few of those kinds of fears 'here'! Of course Beijing is more or less 'locked' down, if you know what I mean.

Hope your daughter is well...Columbine? I think 'we' all remember that with the same trepidation even if we live in communities where nothing ever happens (like parts of Maine).

Give her some extra attention in the coming weeks.

Why in the world would you say you hate to say that the teacher is a hero?
He absolutely is, and I wish I would have the gumption to do the same in a similar situation.

Glad to hear she is ok! I think its sad our schools have no permission to protect themselves against freaks like this. He should have been put down before he fired the second shot, perhaps even the first. Luckily the unarmed teacher knew about bolt action rifles and when to pounce on the guy.

If your life is that **** up why not just take yourself out, there is no reason to open fire at kids. Now we as tax payers get to flip the bill on court cost's and incarceration when a bullet is much cheaper.

Because people these days are gutless, self-centered turds.

Glad your girl is OK, that teacher needs a heros parade.

My very best to you and your daughter Larry. Horribly traumatizing for a young child to deal with. Thank god she wasnt hurt. That teacher is the unsung hero of the year!:) She is lucky to have a good father and family to get her through this.
