They should have put a bullet in his head... This school is 3 miles from Columbine High School..The teacher that took the guy down is courtney's math teacher, Hero of the day in my book.

    I'm glad she is fine.

The teacher deserves an award and a raise.

She is shook up as well as mom. I know Columbine was like 10 years ago but it still haunts the community. I called my son in NY and it really upset him as well as he remembers the days of Columbine.

    And a medal.

Thankfully the guy was using only using a bolt action rifle; gave the teacher a chance.

I'm glad your daughter wasn't physically hurt. My wife's school will soon put up metal detectors but that won't work when the shooter is outside firing in.

Shooter is mentally ill(obviously). Father says he sought help but couldn't afford it....which is sad, if true.

    Bruco Eastwood article

No way should he have had access to a weapon of any kind.

If your life is that **** up why not just take yourself out, there is no reason to open fire at kids. Now we as tax payers get to flip the bill on court cost's and incarceration when a bullet is much cheaper.

I am so sorry to hear of this, especially so close to your daughter. Hero of the day is not enough for the teacher though. That guy is right up there with Captain Sullenberger in my book. That is about the single bravest act I have seen in recent memory.

As far as the shooter is concerned... to bad mob justice is no longer tolerated. The guy does not deserve a trial.

No ****. Catch 22 of mental illness, isn't it. That's the logical thing to do if you actually know your life is **** up. A guy like that is like a dog that's in so much pain it bites the first person it sees. And shoots at little kids, for Gods sake.

Man, I hope your little girl and her classmates get all the support and attention they want and need. Those teachers, major props to them. That whole deal could have so easily been so much, much worse.

Heard about this yesterday on my way home, glad your daughter is ok. Guy had to be mentally effed up, he was threatening to sue the math teacher and the other teachers who helped hold him down.

Scary situation...couldn't imagine being a parent having to hear about that. Good on the teacher for acting selflessly and preventing a bad situation from being even worse. Only thing better would have been if he could have taken this coward out as well.

Funny how these cowards always pick a spot to start shooting where they know they won't get shot back at. Glad your daughter is ok.

Wow, Larry, glad to hear she is OK. I can't imagine the horror of hearing of something like that happening at your kid's school. My daughter is in middle school, too. Scary, scary to even consider it. Makes you want to give her an extra hug, doesn't it?

Know the school and the area well. Don't be timid about getting your daughter into counseling if she shows any signs of emotional struggles.

Prayers sent Larry. Glad to hear the kid missed. If the gun came from his house the parents should be held responsible for not locking up the guns. Trigger guards are only $15-20.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

While this is absolutely true , this whackjob was an old **** with a serious criminal history...not some kid using dads gun.

" Kelley says deputies took 32-year-old Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood into custody and he is being held at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He is expected to face at least two counts of attempted first-degree murder and will appear in court at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for an advisement hearing.

Authorities say Eastwood used a bolt-action, high-powered rifle. 9Wants to Know has learned he has a lengthy criminal history of charges, including assault, domestic violence and DUI.
