Some get pretty angry over this camera subject,and rightfully so. But to draw it a step further, I must ask, whats it going to take for some of you to say" Stop,enough is enough". Camera's were sold to the general public as a safety issue, but we all knew it was about revenue. Your local,state and federal governments never shrink to adjust for bad economic times, but you shure are asked to. They continue to find ways to relieve you of your hard earned cash. So what tax will it be to break the perverbial camels back ? How much of your paycheck are you willing to give up before you go postal ?
If you can't believe the sales pitch from local governing bodies, how are we to believe the sales pitch from the feds for Healthcare,cap and trade,financial reform,Global warming and so on ? All of these sales pitches are designed to relieve you of even more money. Kinda makes Bernie Madolf look like the kid who stole a candy bar from Walgreens. I know this thread is about camera's and why we have them,but it is a great example of why we really have them and the motivations our governing bodies have. Sorry Jess, for a somewhat political slant to your thread. Just calling it as I see it is all.

They had red light cameras in our town until everyone got pissed off enough to vote them out.

Thats easy enough, you have to look into it yourself rather than going for the sales pitch. Just like hope and change. You have to ask the question hope for what and what kind of change instead of assuming they are talking about the same thing you are thinking.

I'm surprised they don't have speed cameras on every highway in the US by now to make money for the state. I personally wish everyone would drive the speed limit but if they put speed cameras on highways I know where they would put them. They would be put in places like where the speed limit decreases to catch more people rather than in areas where safety is more of a concern.

Our great state of Illinois is thinking about leasing the whole tollway system, since it worked out so well for the parking meters in Chicago.:rolleyes:

Funny you posted this now. I just received a red light ticket yesterday. I was under the impression that the cameras were still shots but mine is video. In my case the light was red and I rolled up in the right turn lane. There were no cars coming so I took my free right turn. In the video you can see that I came to a full stop, granted for a split second but I am nearly certain it was long enough that a live officer would not have cited me. Now I need to decide if it's worth my time to go to court to fight it :mad:

And thats the rub, they figure you will just pay it rather than take time off from work to fight it. Regardless, they need your money.
