These appear to be early RTA-12s with the peerless tweeter.

Yep. Those are the original RTA12's. I think $250 is quite a bit too high. But they ARE a terrific speaker and if in good condition, will put a smile on your face. Sonically, they're worth $250, but I think you could get them for quite a bit less.

I'm in South Orange County (Coto de Caza)

I've just been posting vintage Polks over here as I have been addicted to Craigslist lately........There were also a pair of SDA CRS on CL for $300 that I posted here a few days ago. I'm completely Polked-out presently, with a pr of modded SDA-1C's, a pair of veneered and modded 10B's and a stock pr of RTA-12B's.....

A bit pricey, but they look like they're in decent shape. If I was in the market I'd probably haggle for them, since I'm pretty close to Tustin.

(Seems we've got a lot of OC'rs on here, pretty cool!)

What'd you pay for your RTA12s?

$180. They are RTA-12B's. They have real oak veneer, which is a little unusual IIRC.

that price is kinda high for the CRS's IMO; i've seen SDA2's go for $250 on CL in LA county.

i've stlll got polk 4's and an LF-14 powered by an old hsu subwoofer amp as my garage system.

I just post vintage Polk stuff over here when I see them on my local CL..........sometimes it's a smokin' deal, sometimes average deal.

Let me go get my time machine to go get those then...

I've seen SDA2s go for $150, but it's an entirely different speaker. There were a pair of ratty 2As for sale about two-three months back for $200, but they looked damn horrible in the pictures. I haven't seen 2Bs for sale in recent memory...

    Keep posting the deals Boywonder.

I wouldn't part with my RTA 12's for $250....Bought new in 81 and still enjoying them. I also have vintage Klipsch speakers and the 12's are much warmer. In my book $250 would be bargain!
While we are on the subject, there is another pair of RTA 12's on evilbay. (item#160393541106)

I agree with blue, if they are in good shape and everything works you can't touch them for that. They were my first Polks in '78. Serial number 572 and 3. Better crossover quality than now or even my 1.2TL's and time aligned (RTA) tweeter. Better x-over vibration damping too.

I would agree on the RTA 12s Speaking from experience you would have to pay several time their going rate for a new speaker that would go deeper, with better control and sound as open and musical.Keitgh
