The LSi's have been due for an overhaul for awhile. (just a product life cycle kind of thing - its not like they suddenly sound bad or anything)

With that being said, I doubt I will upgrade to new speakers from my original style LSi's anytime soon. I get more bang for the buck by upgrading the speakers I have rather than selling them and trying to purchase something else new. If Polk wants me to actually upgrade - they will have to give me something to upgrade to - not just make a lateral move to a more recent design of the speaker I already own.

    Just my opinion on it.

    Michael
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

I think they should go in the direction of the car manufacturers did, with revising the vintage look into newer cars, and bring out a new revised Monitor 10! The 10d with all newer components, styling, and pricing.:D And they can start it by giving me the first pair! Ummm...I prefer gloss black please...
Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -

I just heard that the latest production run has been pushed to Feb. I guess I won't be seeing my fronts and centre until March now. Grrrrr.

I really want to flex my signature seven but it will have to sit and loaf along on the FX's for a while longer.

+1 on the passive radiator bit. This was Polks "signature" when they first came out and seems to me still the best option, if you will. Def Tech has the passives in their lines now and as far as I have heard, they are awesome. You could get great sound from a smaller driver compliment and not have to have a gazillion watts to make them sound good.

When Polk came out with the "new" monitor line I thought for sure I'd see passives. Suppose this is more my opinion, obviously, as I have no hard evidence like Doro!

Polk really should shrink their lines. I think they might have too many choices. In this kind of economy seems everyone is shrinking what they offer since there are less around that are willing, or can, part with their money for "extras".

Don't get me wrong I like choices as much as the next guy and I think anyone should be able to purchase whatever they want!! Just sayin'...

    Polkies,

We didnt want to leave any of you in the dark on the LSI stock issues. Currently there is no replacement for the LSi slated for release, the LSi you see now is the LSi you should see for the forseeable future. Yes, Polk Is always on the move and we are always trying to reinvent to wheel so-to-speak by redesigning and futher perfecting a High quality Loudspeaker at an affordable cost.

The Lsi stock issue occured because of demand, we simply were not expecting them to sell as quickly as they did with the past years economic situation. So because of that we had a much longer delay in replacement product becoming available. I have confirmed though the following.

FYI - These stock notes are for polkaudio's stock, we can not confirm stock for dealers.

    LSI7 (ebony/cherry) = In Stock
    LSI9 (ebony/cherry) = In Stock
    LSIC = In Stock
    LSI F/x = In Stock

LSI15 and LSI25 = Stock replenishment will occur during the 3rd week of Feburary, with stock available for purchase begining the following week.

Interesting. The dealer I'm working with said that the LSiC was out of stock too.

Since my LSi25's are back ordered for three months maybe Polk would be gracious enough to lend me some LSi9's for the time being.:D

I think if anything, Polk needs to create a reference product above LSi - pull all stops. It has enough expertise, brand power and ingenuity to do just that.

I think that's what DefTech is for.

Sure, if you like metal dome tweeter and huge dips in frequency response.

For clarification, I'm not arguing DefTechs are better, just that since Polk and DefTech are part of the same umbrella, DefTech seems to be marketed more at the higher end, even though the LSi's seem to cost a bit more (at least at the AV stores I've been in).

My question about the LSi series is that if the woofer needs to be re-worked, why not go to the woofer setup like the A9? Is it that it takes too much power? Aren't smaller drivers more "musical" anyway because of "recovery" time? Is this in the future or are the 15's going to stay the same for another 9 years?

    Wetcoast,

My response before is... "FYI - These stock notes are for polkaudio's stock, we can not confirm stock for dealers."

    Okay now the plot thickens.

I'm getting reports now that the production was delayed not because the high demand for the LSi 25 but the factory in China that makes these things has been moved to a new factory.

I'm being told that the change over has taken longer than expected and I won't be getting my LSi 25's and LSiC until May! I ordered these things Sept 2009!!!!!

I'm super pissed because I'm going to have to wait for product longer that is being build in the first production run in a new Chinese factory. Great

I'm seriously considering canceling my order and going to another brand.

Too bad I already received my LSi FX's or I'd cancel the whole thing. What's the going rate for un-used LSi FX's?

I had LSI 15's on order since mid Dec. and they came in about 3 weeks ago if that gives you any encouregment. Check with your guy again, and have them make a call or 2.

    Good luck, Maurice
