MIT Shotgun S2's on their way!

After reading all the fan fare & hi-regards on the merits of MIT cables from fellow members (I do take note & value the opinions found here)...I pulled the trigger & bought the 10' pair of Shotgun S2's & it's matching S2 IC from sir_lagzalot (it very nice doing business with him by the way). They should be here in a day or two then I'll get everything put into place & settle in for an extended listening period. I'll be using the S2 IC from my source to the pre as recommended. From what I've been told the effect of MIT cables is compounded as you add more matching cables from the same line.

I'm sure my next move will be to pick up another S2 IC to use between my amp & pre. I'll follow up in a few weeks with my findings. If all is true, I'm sure I'll be very pleased. Stay tuned.

Good work fellow Jersey guy. Like someone else says around here, they should be the last cables you need to buy.

Phil, once you get those in your system, we'll never hear from you again. You won't be able to drag yourself away from the sweet spot! I love the MIT cables, got them everywhere.

You have them everywhere!!! I'm starting off slow & will proceed at a much slower pace. I've got quite a few cables to say the least.

It took me a good while to get there. Speaker cables, pre-amp to amp, source to pre-amp is the way to start.

At first I thought the speaker cables made the most difference but after swapping out with various different IC's I'm not sure. Both make a pretty big difference.

I had MIT speaker cables long before I bought the ICs. When I got the ICs, I started with my sources. With the turntable I first went from TT to phono pre then from phono pre to my integrated amp.

Joe, I also emailed Joe Abrams & asked him where to start with the one S2 IC. Here's a copy of his response:

    Dear Phil,

Thanks for your kind words. I'm always happy to help members of the Polk Audio Forum.

When all your interconnects are not on the same performance level, I always recommend that the BEST cable go furthest UPSTREAM in your system. Any loss or distortion that occurs at the source can't be recovered or fixed downstream. In this case, place the S2 between source and preamp.

    Hope this helps.

    Happy Holidays!

    ATB,

    Joe

Yeah he is. I bought 5 pairs of S3s ICs from him. One had a problem and he took care of it pronto.

My post was in no particular order. Both Joe's are correct! That's how I started. The speaker cables were actually my last purchase. MITs are the way to go. There are other good interconnects obviously, but the MITs made the best improvement to my ear.

I'd be totally interested in your findings. I've heard so many good things about these cables. When I'm ready to upgrade cables- MIT's are next for sure.

The cables came late this afternoon...in the midst of a 26" blizzard! Kudos's to the USPS!!! I wasn't expecting any mail delivery today with the weather. My carrier even wrapped the box in plastic & made sure we were home for delivery. He's a great mail man that services us all year long. I take good care of him at Christmas for his exceptional service.

Right now...Andrea Bocelli, my Christmas!! Awesome!!!

My initial impressions are that the MIT's really bring out the full spectrum of music. I do a lot of low volumn listening & the detail is incredible. I want to settle in with them for a little longer, especially once the S2 IC arrives & is added to the mix. But for now, I'm very, very pleased! More to follow.

MIT's are a very balanced cable and really have great micro dynamics. I made the switch a couple years ago and I doubt I'll ever buy another brand cable. Many think MIT's "color" the sound, I don't find that at all...........if anything they tend to show you what other cables miss. Many take the clarity and additional spectrum of sound as being colored but it's revealing what was there all the time.

Wait until you get some MIT speaker cables :D

    P.s. My bad I see the S2's are speaker cables..................NM :o

I've done a lot of experimenting with the IC part of the equation and I think MIT is correct when they say matching their cables with their same series IC's is the key to realizing the best synergy.

You are also smart to withhold judgment until you had a chance to get to know the cables for for a week or two.

I was just adding up my S2 cables/IC's and realize I have 160' of this wonderful stuff in my listening room!

You're right. Mixing Shotgun and AVt in the same rig will produce some odd results.

I am definetely taking my time & don't want to rush the listening critique. I have noticed a few attributes but will hold off till the S2 IC arrives & is added to the mix. But just having the S2 speaker cables at the moment, I'm impressed. I'm getting a good feeling of what others have said about MIT.
