Wow, and I thought the $175 I paid a few months ago was amazing. I may as well buy 4 more...

It still says $179.99/ea. I bought a pair in late November for $169.99/ea. They are average loudspeakers IMHO, but for the money, they are golden.

    Hi guys,

    Just signed up. Great site.

I am also interested in purchasing these speakers although the coupon code only seems to work with the cherry finish speakers and I really want the black finish speakers.

Maybe the black will also go on sale soon.

At $159.99/ea, I bet you could live with the cherry finish! It's by far the best loudspeaker deal going right now. I might just pick up a second pair for the helluvit.

BTW Make sure you read the shipping policy on bulk items like these speaker. Mine came in perfect shape, but with UPS, it's like russian roulette.

    Cogito,

Thanks for the welcome. You are right, at this price point it really shouldn't matter if they have (pardon the pun) "polk" a dots on the sides.

I really had my heart set on the black though. Could I live with the cherry?

The Monitor 70's are probably the best bang for the buck speakers out there.
They need to be heard with a good amplifier.

Well, I can't disagree with that! That's damn cheap for a 900+ dollar MSRP pair of towers!

Are there better? Sure...but 159 each???? 318 bucks that's almost 1/3 of their original selling price NEW!

At these prices who knows, M70s may become the best selling Polk speaker of all time--if there are enough out there to sell?

Yeah I have seen them drop to $169 a couple of weeks ago, but never $159, and I have been watching for a couple of months. The Black ones will probably go on sale in the next week or two. That seems to be the trend. Mine are arriving tomorrow!!!!! Can't wait!

Oh and the Cherry looks really good. I hooked up some M60's for my mom a while back and the finish is quite nice.

With all of the interest I thought I would put in a shameless plug. I have a set of Monitor 70s for sale in the forsale section of the forum for $175 a pair, including an extra set of Polk OEM replacement tweets. Hint, hint.

    Hey guys,

I spoke with a rep from Newegg and she agreed to knock off $20.00 if I wanted the black instead of cherry.
Plus with the 10% cash back if you use pay pal to purchase with, I finally pulled the trigger. Now my wife is gonna pull the trigger on me!!!!!

    Anyhow here's the set up.

    2 ea: Monitor 70's
    1 ea: CS2
    2 ea: Monitor 30's

    Grand total was $569.96
Less $50.00 (The 10% back had a maximum of $50.00)
Less $20.00 (as per the Newegg rep)

    Final tally: $499.96

    I can live with that.

I'll post some pics when I can.

    Thanks devilish.

    Thanks for the pm also.

I purchased the black instead of the cherry, hence the $20.00 discount instead of the $40.00 for the cherry.

Already ordered so I guess it's too late to do as you suggested in your pm.

I would have replied to your pm but I don't have enough posts yet.

I have a feeling that's about to change as I am gonna have lots of questions for you guys.

I done some google serching and found it ... That kind of bites but i understand why they do it that way. I sold a guitar a year agao and the dude smashed it on the ground and said it was shipped that way well he got fooled because i had pics of every inch of the guitar and filmed it being packed for shipping needless to say he lost 2500 USD.

Good call on the 70's and the 40's. I run a similar setup with a CS2 center and a PSW125 and needless to say I have been nothing short of amazed of how much speaker you get for such as great price. I bought mine over a year ago, before it was common to find them on the Egg for so cheap. What (if anything) are you running for a center? If you are going to use it primarily (or at all) for HT the center is IMHO the most important speaker for HT use. I would recommend the CVS2 (which just so happens to be on sale at the Egg for $109 (with promo code EMCMNNM34) Good luck and congrats on the new system. Welcome to Club Polk.

    thanks for the shipping info.
I done a google serch on Polk Audio Monitor 70 Cherry Floorstanding loudspeaker Single and it led me to this web page http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/recent/monitor70/ and it uses the 40 Bookshelf with the 70's and recomends the CS2 , I did'nt buy the CS2 yet $$$ is a little funny with xmas and all ( 3 boy's to buy for + wife) ( hehehe almost forgot the wife:eek:) I'm 46 years old and i can say i feel a little gitty about the polks, I know my old onkyo TX-DS656 will thank me for them I'm sure. I do have a JBL 10" sub for now but i would like to get 2 matching
10" subs in the future. I realy do'nt need anything bigger and i dont like my sub so load it kills out the detail of the other speakers.
when i got the onkyo i also bought some infinaty rs2 for it and told myself one day i would put better tweeters in them but never did and a few years ago a good friend of mine gave me 2 bose 601 that needed the surounds replaced so i done that to them and they work as good as you could expect I just wished larry could of herd them before he died cause he loved those things.
Thanks again for the info and you folks have a safe week end.
