Picked up some Monitor 10B's--Couple questions...

And picked up a pair of Monitor 10Bs with the stands on Sun afternoon (CL).
These aren't as in great a shape as the 5B's I got on Sat.. They have a few nicks here and there along the back edge and corners, but the sides, top and fronts look pretty good, esp in the Rosewood finish. Looks like one driver was replaced recently as it doesn't have as much extension as the others and has the obvious texture difference as well as the lack of cutouts in the surround for the screws. They have the SL1000(???) tweeters.
The grills need re-clothing, and they are quite dusty. (What the heck is up with people not cleaning stuff up before they sell it???)
I turned down the heavy gauge Monster speaker wire he was throwing in with it.
I already have a pair of 10A's with Peerless in Walnut--so I might do some comparisons. Other than the tweeter difference--What's the difference between the 10A and 10B?
Also, I think it's an oddity, but on one speaker there is a fuse, but not on the other. The 10A's I have, have a fuse on each speaker. Is this normal?
Now I know what those three little holes are on the binding post plate--its a leftover from the fuse--at least that is what I think it is, the middle hole for securing the fuse holder and each other hole for the wires to pass. My SRS2's have those three holes but on the inside they are sealed with glue.
Here's a couple pics of each binding post plate--Note the serial #s aren't that far off from each other
And a couple pics of them:
These are in definite need of a good cleaning--can you pick out the new driver? Which one of these is not like the other

Yes, SL1000's
The ones without the fuses have Poly-Switches, I like the fuses better. Some say the Poly-Switch can color the sound.
Also, you can use windex to clean off that brown oxidation on the drivers.
Yeah but one with a fuse and one without? in the same pair? Those S/N are within 43 of each other.
Yeah, I'll be giving them a good cleaning, I only just got them home and wanted to hook em up to hear them first--They sound good--real good.:cool:____________________

+1
The ripples in the outer edge of the surrounds, due to the lack of cutouts for the screws, give it away.
It's also a bit blacker looking.
Congrats! Yours must must have been produced during a transitional period...

I have yet to pull them, or even clean them...:o____________________
