I got the 1a's home today, they looked better in person than in pics, they need new grill cloth, and could use a good cleaning on the outside as well.I am powering them with an nad c370,same piece I powered my 2b's with, gotta say I really like the 1a's over the 2b's.One more driver and I believe the cabinets may be a little taller as well, seems like they have a little more punch to them.I replaced the 2b's with a real nice pair of later model m10's which I still have, really have enjoyed them the past few years btu doin comarisons between them and the new 1a's all afternoon,I truely like the sda's better.Thought I would listen to them a while and then move em on,but I think I'll keep them instead, give the m10's a break.Since I only have a $100 in them I may invest in doing the upgrades,Ive read crossover mods are good and modding the inside of the cabinets as well, anything else thats a common upgrade on these I'd appreciate ya'll letting me know.
Thanx in advance

Congrats! I have 2Bs myself...and I imagine that that larger box and extra drivers do put out more bass--which is always a good thing..

Actually the 1's have 2 more drivers and one more tweeter than the 2B's. Congrats and enjoy!

Those are sweet-looking, Keith. I'm in the final phase of picking my own SDA's. Either going for the 1C's or the 2B's. Still haven't decided, and e-bay/craigslist pickings are currently pretty slim

(btw, how come the search feature isn't working so I can look up some comparison threads? I type in SDA and nothing comes up)

Anyway, don't mean to derail. Those are nice looking. How do you like the dimensional tweeter?

    Try SDA*, you'll get plenty.

You're right, thanks. I didn't know to use an asterisk. For some reason it makes all the difference.

No problem. The search function needs a minimum of four characters and the asterisk just acts as a wildcard.

Thought I would hook my two carver tfm22 amps up to the sda's, in mono to hear how they sound with big power, but I was foiled because the sda's are not recomended with bridge amps.Oh well I'll swap out my nad c370 with one of the carvers,it will be a good bit more power,we'll see how they sound. The little nad pushes them purdy well, does get a bit warm after a while.

It is a one to one transformer that allows the use of non common ground amps.

Did some searchin on the combonation of carver amps and sda's,this is what I found out.My carvers,tfm22/24 are common ground amps,so they should work well on my sda-1a's.I want to use both amps switched in mono on the 1a's,thats where I'll have a problem, the amps in mono become non common ground. This is where the AI-1 comes in,designed for use in the ic cable and fixes the problem, easy enough...not so fast!My ic cable is dual blade, what I understand is the AI-1 will only work on the blade/pin ic cable of the later sda-1b,1c,if this is so where does this leave me?I'll assume just out of luck.Any input very much appreciated.
