What's Your Record Cleaner Solution Recipe?

Hi all. Recently dug out my old Technics TT and broke out some old vinyl. Then bought a Sony PS-X75 (which was what I wanted back in the day) and a Technics SL1200MK5. My vinyl was always immaculately maintained, and doesn't really need a deep cleaning from one of those new vacuum machines. (I'm looking a t a DIY design, however, just in case.)

I use a Discwasher D4 brush to dust the disk down before playing and am out of solution to moisten it. Anyone have a home brew recipe they can share?

    do a search here for tergitol,, some of us got in on a group buy,, personally,,I love the stuff,, get's em' clean,and a little bit goes a loooong way.

    DO NOT USE Tergitol if you don't have a vacuum machine to remove it from the LP surface. It is meant to be removed from the disc AND followed by a water rinse. Very important!

    I use;

    1. Vinyl-Zyme Gold

    2. MFSL Super Deep Record Cleaner

    3. MFSL Super Record Wash

    4. VPI Record Cleaner

    . . . to initially clean new and used records.

    I use the Tergitol combo and distilled water rinse to clean each record before each use. All of these cleaners are used with different brushes on a VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine.

    3/4 gallon distilled water, 16oz 91% isopropyl alcohol and 5 drops of Triton X-114.

    Record cleaning brush, old TT and modified shop vac to remove solution.

    Tergitol S-3 and S-9 combo with distilled water on my Nitty Gritty 2.5 Fi followed by a rinse with distilled water. For really nasty stains I'll use a diluted solution of isoproyl alcohol and enzyme cleaner.

    This is definitely the best route to go but if your records are still exceptionally clean just get a anti static brush for now. Then before you know it you will be obsessed with the sound of vinyl and want a RCM.

    Close to the formula I know, but no detergent added. As an addendum, give a sweep with an anti static brush. Dig in somewhat with the brush, as the grooves are very fine and apt to passed over if not somewhat pressing down with it. Obviously get a brush with very fine hairs....

    Vinyl by its nature will establish localized electrostatic charges (pops) that are very difficult to remove. It's a material issue. Earlier LPs made from lacquer did not have it.

    The simple solution that used to be used was A) clean, B) play once to remove any physical clutter from the grooves, C) clean again and D) ALWAYS record the 2nd pass through onto analog tape. Then put the vinyl away for archival/backup purposes; use the tape for general playback.

    I think vinyl is a labor of love and the sound quality is worth the effort. Your system is impressive I would love to hear some vinyl on it.
