Well, I finally got a couple of hours to sit and examine the crossover on the right speaker of the pair I pick up from Sal almost 2 weeks ago. I pulled the tweets and removed the high part of the crossover. I put one of the extras Sal gave me and I hooked the tweeters up outside the box to make sure things were working. They were so I installed the tweeters in the cabinet and listened to one song with the right channel only. WOW! That's all I could say. I was so excited, I pulled the left channel from the corner and hooked it up as well. I was running it with an OLD (23 yo) JVC integrated amp and I live in an apartment, so I had 2 strikes against me playing it at any decent levels. However, I must say even with poor speaker placement, subpar power and terrible electronics in general, these things imaged like MAD! Sal I am in love (with the speakers although you're cute too)! Thank you so much...
BTW I am going with red oak for the caps. My girlfriend had two very good points. 1.) When you restore a classic car you try to keep it as original as possible (I know they are not a car) 2.) The oak matches the rest of my living room. I pick up the new caps tomorrow.
I plan to run these with stock crossovers until the end of July. My electrician buddy is out of town and I am too chicken to do the soldering without him standing over my shoulder. Well, I gotta go to bed. Again Sal thank you...You are the man.

bluecomet,
how do you get 2 different ohm versions of sda srs 2's?Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Thank you Sal.
Mine are the 4 ohms..I definately have to set up my big amps again.
My older onkyo stereo receiver sounded pretty good but it did heat up quite a bit.I only played through it for about an hour or two and never played loud for too long a time.I wonder if my big amps are going to heat up too. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I power my 4 ohm SDA SRS2's with a Luxman M-117 amp. I can rock the house for hours and it won't break a sweat. Go out and get a good quality amp and you will be good to go.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

I used to have two Luxman 1030's that I loved but sold those and of coarse I couldn't have used them for the 2's. But for nice amps I've only to go to my shelves to pick one out.I read the bass should tighten up. I used to have Isles of gear, but have sold alot in the past 5 months. I'm still reorganizing but I'm making progress. I plan on fixing a set of sda crs's soon. They have been put aside for 4 yrs.;)I bought a set of original stands for them a few months ago too.:DMost people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Well, finally got the end caps put on but bad news. Two of the four new ones were warped already. The guy at the wood shop did not (rip?) the caps down and then glue them together. He made them out of one solid piece. So I only replaced the bottom caps as they were splitting pretty bad. I think I am going to go with the mdf and laminate next time. I saw an old post over the weekend where F1 recommended this. Also, the drivers have been taken out and pt back into these speakers so much that the screw holes are mangled. I am not going to change the end caps for a while but I need to get back in for the xover mod. Any suggestions on ways to make the screw holes stable again?2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.

Drop of wood glue and a toothpick, drill new holes(12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, etc...), or http://www.madisound.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=404_18_393"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. You might get a good and permanent result with threaded inserts and machine screws.;)
