Welcome to the Club! I haven't even had time to really enjoy my 70's yet, but I can tell that I'm going to be enjoying them a lot in the years to come. Did you get the deal on the M70's as well?
yea saw the deal at the egg missed the black ones so i jumped when i saw the cherry kind of hard to sneak those into the house without the wife catching on!! -
The code only works on black speakers..I think.....well I tried it on two more cherrys but no go..
Mine should be here noonish or so. -
The M70's are a good speaker at their normal price. At $179 shipped they are a steal. Newegg may/most probably will have them back at that price.
Even if they are the cherry or maple, you can always primer and paint them:D
I have a third buddy that I have hooked up with a 5.1 setup of the Monitor series from Newegg. Great bang for the buck. -

to my limited experince with the speakers and overall in audio they provide a much fuller sound. i had them playing 2ch and already i can hear things in recordings i have never heard before. i also noticed i can play them louder without losing anything if that makes sense?the r50s to me were bright in my opinion -
If anyone is interested in a pair of M70 in cherry, I know where I you get some for $250.00 and the condition is 8.5/10. Of course it would have to be local pickup (Richmond Virginia). I saw them this morning and they look and sound great. They are not mine but thought I would just throw this out there if anyone around my area was looking.

Yes, i do remember having to turn down the treble a bit on my Adcom to compensate. It wasn't harsh bright, just too much.
The midrange i felt, was great on those speakers, though.
The Paradigms i replaced them with seem to be more balanced, though, even if they don't seem to handle quite the same volumes with ease.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

As I alluded in my previous post, when I had my daughter's bbq, the front speakers were my backup JVC's (no way in Hades I was bringing out my RTIa7's out in the backyard). So the the 1 M70 was still in the man cave and I was able to discern the difference...It was very crisp, not as bright as the 7's but nontheless great sound emanating from it. I am feenin' for that second cherry m70 (even though I cant afford it rite now).Experience is what you gain by not having it when you need it. -

Duhhhh as surrounds, lol. I think that would be overkill huh? Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if that would even be worthwhile?HT Rig

In reading back through this thread I think there may be some confusion about the 70's currently at $179. The BLACK 70's are back at $179... Coupon SPEAKER615. The code expires on the 7th.

Quick followup question .... I have the monitor 60s and I like them, but they need just a bit more punch imho. Just a lil more ...
SO
Is an upgrade to the 70's enough, or do I need to go RTi series? -
I have the 70's and the 60's and the 70's are definitely better. By what some others have said, they will sound better yet when given a bit more power, so I think the 70's would be great for you if you're just looking for a little bit more.

You'd have to go at least Rti-A7s to get more punch....but Rti-A9s would be your best bet...and they're in a different price range. Look at the specs--Rti-A5s and M70s have the same low end? And the M70 are higher wattage!

Great price on the M70's! I love mine, nice balanced sound, easily handles HT duty with my 5.1 setup and they really come to life in 2 channel music.

They are cherry and mint....
I was asking my bro for 150 a pair...they have been in use since Jan or so... -
You need a center to go with those fellow polkies...New egg has the CS1 for $80, ($70 with the code) and the CS2's I believe for $119. Im trying to hold out on the elusive second cherry M70....So long...Headed to work for the man, Talk to yall laterExperience is what you gain by not having it when you need it.

Hi Rodeo..
Congrats. I run M70, myself, for HT...I think they're, perhaps, one of the most underrated Polk speakers. They're quite good for the price....especially for that price...which is what I got them for almost a year ago. They'll sound good with that Onkyo. I also use an Onkyo to power mine and the 800 series has just about enough power to push them some. I've also run them with an Adcom GFA-555 and, well. It's a significant 'upgrade'.
If I were going RTI-A I'd get A9s. But I've said that before. I like RTIs fine but I 'really' like the 9s the best and wouldn't upgrade my 70s for anything less than those.
Enjoy...

Pretty good Crown what's up....I'm getting ready to leave for Pa. in a day or so...and will drop in, briefly, at Nadams Polk event this next weekend while there. How are the new speakers treating you?
