Ya, I saw the preview last night in the theater and actually audibly groaned when it started.. thought it was a stupid political biography. Was very surprised when an alien come on the screen!

Could be interesting. Not really sure what the plot is yet though... August is gonna be a killer month for releases though!!! :D:D:D

I hope it's just as long as the rest too.

Apparently the plot is aliens are refugees in South Africa and the humans don't really like it.

Seems like it will be awesome, I'll definitely be going to see that one at the drive in :D

Saw this one today before Wolverine and I too thought it was another anti-American hollywood piece of crap then the "Theyre Not Human" line came up and we all raised up out of our seats a little.

Looks pretty good but not 100% sure about it yet. Gonna have to see some more previews.

I thought the same thing Mac. I thought the helicopters were UN at first. I liked the other 4 Peter Jackson movies even though they were extremely long. The alien looked pretty good in the preview, from what I could see so I think it will be pretty cool.

Did anyone check out the website? It's pretty serious for just some movie promotion.

Peter Jackson is probably my alltime favorite director. I think the dude is a genius and cant wait to see what he does with this one.

It's amazing to think that Dead/Alive was my favorite movie as a child. Jackson has come a long way.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

WOW, total 180 with you there bud. I think Jackson is a hack. All he does is rerelease 20 versions of LOTR and makes them more boring and longer each time. KK was an hour too long with no pacing or character development. Frightners, which was the only movie I ever walked out of the theater for, and that says a lot.

I cannot think of a worse director.

There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

Come on Venom. Grab a beer and pop in Bad Taste or Meet the Feebles. Tell me then if you're not thoroughly entertained.

I have not seen either of those, so I cannot comment. But so far he is 0-5 for me. He and Lucas should co-direct Return of the Hobbit - Frodo and Jar Jar are two lonely single guys in a big universe of clones and trolls....maybe a duet along the way...:)

I can see why someone might be put off by LOTR or KK. But his earlier flicks are essential viewing. Even after over a decade, no one has come up with a gorier film than Dead/Alive. Sheer madness.

And be sure to get the unrated version.

Peter Jackson isn't directing this, just producing. Neill Blomkamp (the guy Jackson insisted upon to do the Halo movie, which is what killed the project) is directing it, and it is based on his short film Alive In Joburg (which is brilliant, and you can watch it here).

I've loved Blomkamp's short films, and since they won't let him do Halo, I'm glad Peter Jackson's helping him do something else in the sci-fi genre.

This trailer caught me by surprise because usually Im up on every movie trailer even before I go to the theaters so when I saw it this past friday when I caught x-men origins, I was amazed and cant wait for it to release. It kind of reminds me a little like Half-Life 2 and cloverfield. I guess the district 9 has that city 17 ring to it or something lol. But this is definitely on my radar.

Roger that Ron. Just from the trailer, it looks like an uprising of the lower caste against the uppers type of film.....

Hmmmm, my jury is out on this one. I saw the preview on youtube last night, and it didn't strike me as very connected. Let me clarify that by saying, there seems to be a bit of a jump in the plot, that didn't make sense- to me anyway.

I think District 9 is modeled after this short film. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1185812222812358837 It's a pretty cool short film and maybe watching it will help clarify where the movie is headed.

Love that Bad Taste and Dead/Alive are the same movie... and that he hinted to that monkey in Kong....

Bad Taste actually came out before Dead/Alive - which was also known as Braindead overseas. Maybe that's what you're thinking?
Great catch on the Sumatran rat monkey in King Kong. Good stuff.
