More SDAs in one spot than I've ever seen in my life!

Hello fellow Polkies. I took a drive to FL this weekend to buy a nice set of RTA-12Bs. More on those in a momment. When I walked into this guy's garage to listen to the RTAs, I was immediately confronted with more SDAs and vintage Polk speakers than I have ever seen in my life! On the back wall of the garage in front of my eyes rested a set of SRS 1.2TLs, a set of SRS 2.3 TLs, and a set of SDA SRSs. All along the sidewalls lied several sets of SDAs (the grills were on, so I couldn't say which ones), and vintage monitor speakers. I was in heaven! I tried to get the guy to sell me a set of one of the SDAs, but I couldn't get him to bite on it, so I settled for the RTA-12Bs. I forgot to ask the seller if he was a member of Club Polk, but maybe he'll see this post and respond.

I am really loving the RTA-12Bs. They are in excellent shape, look great, and sound better. Voices are so realistic with these. I put in some Government Mule on the CD player and started to audition these after I hooked them up. It sounded like Warren Haynes was in the room with me. I then put in some Diana Krall and it was more of the same. Voices are so rich and life like. Jazz and classical are amazing on these. I heard some Richter playing classical piano and I thought there was a grand piano in my living room. Rock is good, but these truly shine with Jazz, Classical, and Accoustical music. The soundstage and imaging is awesome also. The only complaint I have with these is they lack bass at the lowest frequencies, but they are not designed for this and I have subs to help out. I am very impressed with these speakers. Now if I only could have had him sell me a set of those SDAs..........

where in Florida.... sounds like a clandestine black ops operation needs to be executed if these SDA's are all in a garage AND sitting outside...

That's what I was thinking! He lived in Lake City FL. Actually the guy is planning on making an all SDA home theater. Of course I started to have questions about that in my mind with phase issues and what not, but I kept that to myself. He is planning on moving these into his living room soon. He already has one set of SDAs in there in addition to several other speakers. It was truly a sight to behold. I can only hope and dream that I will someday find a set of SRS TLs somewhere close enough for me to pick up and at a price I can afford. I will keep looking though.

BTW, thanks for the congrats on my new speakers. They really surprised me.

I have a pair of RTA12B and RTA12C and now have a line on a pair of SDA-2Bs. Looking forward to hearing the SDAs and comparing them to the RTAs. It is hard for me to believe the SDAs can be a much better sounding speaker as they are set up very similar to the RTAs, 1 tweeter, 2 mids and a 12" PR. I really enjoy the sound of the RTAs. But I can see there are a lot of members who prefer the SDAs.

It's the technology of the SDA and what the SDA can do that folks tend to prefer.
