Which ones? Some are some aren't. They typically have a nominal impedance of 4 or 6 ohms depending on the model. SDA's dip as low as 2 ohms and up to like 64 ohms......all dependent on the musical signal. Regardless of ohm rating because of the interconnect it does tend to put extra stress on the negative side of an amplifier. Weak amps need not apply.

There is a pair of SDA-1A's, and a pair of SDA-2's here in town, i am ready to look at a pair of starter SDA's for a 2 channel set up, and i want to start with the speakers first.

    Thanks,

    Larry.

I believe the original SDA 1s were 4 or 5 ohm nominal. SDA 2s were 6 ohm. What heiney said...they aren't that hard to drive at reasonable levels, but do like the current.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B

You can make your own. The Blade is just for support. For now use a piece of stranded wire wrapped tight....just jam it in the "pin" hole until you can make something more permanent. Some use an RCA end with the collar clipped off....exposing just the "pin" portion. Mine are converted to a Cardas banana plug connector, with banana's on each end of the cable.

Those are a few different options

    If they're Pin/Blade, I would assume 2B's.

Tool(I feel funny calling you that :D), did you order the tweeter yet? If not, look into the TL conversion.

I was in a hurry when i picked these up as i was on my lunch break i just glanced at them put them in the car. they are SDA 2, and they do have Blade/Blade.

Her are some pics. one tweeter was changed to a Boston, Looks very cheap, and one side was off. But over all not bad. A little TLC, and i will have them looking like new.

I have the exact same model in my 2-channel rig. Blade/Blade cables can still be purchased from Polk. I bought one.

    Congrats on the SDA's.

Just note that they are very , very sensitive to room placement and distances. Sound can change a bunch by just moving them inches.

SDA's in the garage is an offense punishable by death in 27 states and life in prison with a bose wave radio in the rest so you best rethink the garage part:p

I have tried about 4 different ways to power them, but please keep in mind that I have not near as much experience with these as many folks here. Here is what I have tried so far:

Yamaha receiver = O.K. but I do not like Yamaha
Audiosouce AMP300 = O.K. but I like the 300 better in my HT rig.
harman kardon 3480 = Very nice IMHO...perfect low budget match for smaller SDA's
NAD 317 = Very nice and is my current rig. Only rated 80 watts per channel but way powerful enough for me.

George and others rave about the tube amps with the 2B's, but I have not tried that yet.

I like for a modest cost the Carver TFM-35s... they are a decent amp for 300 bucks and have 250wpc at 8ohm. I am however shopping for something different at the moment because I think a better amp might bring out some more details... PM me if you like....
