Hello,

This is my first post and I would greatly appreciate any feedback. I have a Carver Receiver, "The Carver Receiver" I believe it is called. The manual says that it is 150 wpc. Is this enough power for these speakers? They sound pretty good, could they be better. The manual also does not say if the 150wpc is doubled into 4 ohms. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Nate

Do you have to turn the volume up real high for the speakers to be loud enough for you?

    If not, you're fine.

ANYTHING "can" sound better; new capacitors and various other tweaks will certainly help--but--is it worth the money to you?

Yeah I like how the thing sounds, but there is some kind of static humm that comes through the speakers even when the volume is all the way down, what is this? I can hear it when I'm a few feet from the speakers. I hooked a yamaha receiver up and they are almost silent even with the volume cranked.

Also, If the receiver is 225wpc into 4 ohms, what is the difference between this thing and say an adcom amp at 200wpc? Is there a significant difference between receiver and amp power?

Make sure the Carver is common ground. If it is common ground, then there is some other problem with the receiver.
Is there a significant difference between receiver and amp power?

Absolutely. Receivers don't have the power supply a good amp does.
