This one of my favorite books for collecting Classical Music Cd's.
Gives you a guide to Collecting The best rated Classical Music CD's out there.
This has been my favorite since day one.....my 1st copy which I still own...1990 has been crucial to my Classical Music venture.

Last night I bought the latest copy 2009 at our local Barnes and Noble which covers DVD and SACD format.
Barnes and Noble and Amazon both carry this book.....@ $20-$30 it's worth every penny!!

Another good source is The Omnibus Essential Guide to Classical CDs. It's a bit old with a 2004 date but if you tend towards dumpster diving at the clearance section or used book store, this is wonderful guide. In fact, I picked it up new for $7 at Half Priced Books.

Yeah, Jim; there're quite a few classical CD review guides which have been fairly recently published. This Amazon page has a useful list with one man's brief personal evaluations. Besides Penguin(which I have and consider to be the most useful overall), the leading volume published annually is probably The Gramophone Classical Music Guide. I've seen most of these at various local libraries.

As to online sources, entering a topic such as "classical CD reviews" into Google turns up some interesting sites. We've already discussed Classics Today, which I check almost daily for new reviews. Another site is Gramophone Magazine here , which has numerous features, including a searchable Review section. An interesting new feature that the Gramophone archive here is now offering is online access to over 1000 issues(not including the three most current for non-subscribers) from their 85 years of publishing.
