And in pretty good condition too!

There were a pair of what looked like 1Cs on Seattle CL a week ago for $200 if I remember right, but I can't seem to find them...

Yes, but these bidders are idiots, all they are doing is making more money for the seller.

They should all click on Watch Auction and place a bid in the last 30 seconds.

Why fight for the top bidder position 9 days before the auction end?

I used to think that way, and I still do bid many auctions in the last 15 seconds, but this is for items where I absolutely know the market, know EXACTLY how much I want to pay, and don't really care if I miss out.

If you really are convinced you emotionally want an item, you have to bid early and often to flush out the highest price SOMEONE ELSE is willing to pay.

I can't tell you how many items I've missed learning this, and where I've never seen a comparable quality deal come up again.

And yes, the seller wins. But so does the buyer if he/she is comfortable with the end result. But they are certainly not "idiots".

I know you will probably never sell, but how would you like no bids on your 1.2's until minus 30 seconds. If someone stole yours like that, you'd probably use the same word (idiot) describing the buyer in the exact reverse situation of the above.

Any thoughts on to the value of the SDA SRS 2 pair on ebay? They're listed at $700 with local pickup.

I couldn't agree more - it really depends on the uniqueness of the item and how much you want it and are prepared to spend. So long as you limit your bidding to an amount no greater than the amount that you personally value the item, then you should have any regrets.

On items that appear more regularly, or for which you have less desire, bidding at the last moment is the most effective method to achieve the lowest price.

BTW, there was a very nice pair of SDA speakers recently on eBay from Georgia, I believe they were listed by a Club Polk member. I was watching them and interested in bidding despite the haul to get them, but they were pulled before the end of the auction. Anyone know if someone bought them locally? Otherwise it may be a case where the seller got cold feet because there wasn't enough action early.

I told her she should at least set a reserve for the minimum she was willing to take for them... they were gone after that

And it's like F1 and some others are always saying about SDA's; they aren't making any more of them!

I'll have to watch these just for curiosity sake. I have not been following prices at all recently and have no intention of selling mine unless I run across some 2.3tl's in my neighborhood. I probably overpaid for my studio version ($400) but they were mint one owner, original receipt, manual, and no shipping. I've never regretted a nickel of it. What a great speaker.

George, not selfish when you planned to buy them. Good for you and as you know a very decent price. I paid $400 for mine and had to drive 2200 miles round trip but there seem to never come up for sale in Dallas.

Not selfish at all. I'm negotiating for some now with a guy who will put them on eBay only if we can't strike a deal. If I can't close it, I'll post.
